Hi all, I normally frequent the challenge boards (particularly the Immortal Dynasty Challenge) and the story board.
I've started having big problems with my save game files, and Pam suggested I post my issues here.
Some computer/program specifications that may help
* I am running the game on a desktop with Windows 7 and 8GB Ram.
* I have all expansion packs and stuff packs installed with the exception of Katy Perry and Diesel.
* I have all Sims 3 worlds installed with the exception of the walled city and Lucky Palms. I also have Union Cove and Green Dolphin Island created by a member of the forum here.
* I have no mods.
* I have things that I have purchased from the Sims 3 store, though nothing from the Swap Shop.
* My game version on the launcher says it is version 16.0.136.019001 and I have it set to automatic updates regarding game patches.
Please let me know if I should be giving you any further information.
The first issue I got was the travelling bug. I have sent sims travelling in other game files without issues, previously. However, this time, the world loads but my controllable sims don't appear in the world. The mood bar also turns blue.
I searched this site to see if that was an issue for others, and found various suggestions. I did the following:
* Cleared the caches (with the exception of that file that impacts on the Tabcast 6000).
* Emptied the family inventory.
* Sent different members of the family on a trip.
All of it resulted in the same outcome.
On my return to the Main Menu screen (where you have the option of opening a saved file or starting a new game) the thumbnail of my controllable household in this file was badly distorted. Their arms made them look like a cross between zombies/skeletons and Mr Fantastic Clones (Fantastic 4) and they were with the wrong partners and at least one of them wasn't there. I tried loading it, and it loaded alright. I have not yet tried to send them travelling again.
I started a new saved game file, with a new sim, set in Sunset Valley. The sim I created worked in the military, and one day when he went to work he was just in his birthday suit without the nude distortion. I clicked on him, and went into his clothing options - all of the other ones were still there, just no work uniform. I exited out of the game at that point. I changed him into his everyday clothes, and he went to work in that.
I read through the forum here further and came across the one discussing the factory reset process. So I thought that I might as well try that and I did that process.
It seems to have had no negative impact. The game file for the first game I described above still has the distorted picture. Getting into the file, however shows them all appearing normal.
The second one has 4 of my 5 sims appearing in their boxes down the left hand side of the screen. The fifth one, however, doesn't have his mugshot in his box, his box is empty.
This second file is a new file I just started today. Until a few days ago, I had never experienced the travel bug or this birthday suit bug. I did have a bug soon after Sims 3 came out in which the mother got stuck in an ongoing loop of having babies, so that the entire family slot was taken up by babies and the parents were moved out.
But, apart from that, no bugs.
