Woah, I'm not going to try that! Anyway, toddlers aren't affected by rain (they don't get the 'soaked' moodlet)

I don't think it actually harms the baby - my sim put her baby in the snow at the winter festival, and it had the panicky thought bubbles about freezing, but no moodlet came up and its needs didn't decrease more than usual. I could also see it kicking and wriggling under the snow, which was really cute in an awful kind of way.

How about starving to death while in a hot dog eating contest?  My sim didn't die, but while in a hotdog  eating contest one of the contestants had the hunger sign that sims get.  They were eating away but she kept that sign, then all of a sudden she drops to the ground and the reaper comes up and takes her away.

Weird, I doubt that could happen to a playable sim, but found it strange that it happened to a game sim.  She was a townie, but don't remember who she was.

That one certainly can happen to a controlled sim. My first seasons test sim died of starvation during a hot dog eating contest. To avoid it, make sure your sim is around halfway on their hunger bar. Much further down and you start running a risk of dying.
