Bridgeport Road Broken?
« on: November 26, 2012, 04:33:33 PM »
Forgive me if this topic is somewhere else, I've searched everywhere but no one seems to have seen this issue before... at least not anywhere I've looked. I tried searching the forum, but if it's here feel free to lock the topic and send me in the right direction. I recently created my Simself and boyfriend. We were happily together but my game has been very glitchy. We had been faithful for 54 days - never once getting the moodlet - but that's besides the point. I decided (after getting sick of every Sim that meets my Sims becoming attractive) to move towns and I decided to play Bridgeport, hoping maybe the relationship would reset and I'd get my moodlet (didn't happen, but still not the point). I turned my Sims supernatural and moved them to Bridgeport. They have quite a bit of money and seeing as I have all expansions/stuff packs (minus Katy Perry) almost all the lots are filled up except for one. It's a 30x40 lot, and seeing as my Sims live pretty simply, I built a house there.
Things were going well, though I can't say I'm too happy with one thing: on the way to their house (over the bridge on the Celebrity side of Bridgeport) the road is just... broken. My Sims will drive from their house to the center of the city, only to stop in the middle of that road! They get onto the sidewalk, take two steps forward get back in their car and continue to drive. A nuisance, I thought it would be, but it gets worse. Upon going home, my sim will stop at that exact place, get out of their car and wave their hands around like they can't get home. Only instead of stepping forward and getting back in a car and going home... they can't. Anytime I click the "Go Home" button it cancels. They can't get home unless I teleport them or find some weird work around by having them cross the road and go up the street 10 feet to get back in their car.
Anyone else experience this? Any solutions? If not, looks like my Sims will be moving... again.

Just to be clear, the road does not look broken, it is not missing anything.

Another weird thing I noticed. I had saved my family to the Sim Bin and moved them that way. They kept their status as being together for 54 days and kept everything in their inventory/family inventory. That seemed weird to me as that's never happened before - especially the keeping of relationships. I'm not complaining, but is that now the new normal?

I love Bridgeport. Never had this issue until the new patch. Now, it's constantly. And not just at the place you mention; but, also on the road to the Grind. I have not downloaded a routing fix from MTS; because, I have too many mods, etc., in my game. But I know others who have downloaded the "routing fix" worlds (not just Bridgeport).

After I patched I had this happen in Riverview on one of the bridges near the gym, the kids going to school would all get out of taxis, off buses, or off bikes, walk a bit then get back in and carry on. I also had a batch of sunken sims on the middle island.

I ended up uninstalling and reinstalling then I patched back to 1.39 only, they are land bridges in Riverview, raised land with a bridge face stuck on, like the bit to the Grind in Bridgeport, but that doesn't explain the main bridge unless it's just where it joins the land. I had a feeling it was something to do with the new swimming in water but can't confirm that. Anyway rolling back to 1.39 sorted it for me but now as I have Seasons i'm back on 1.42 but haven't noticed any problems, maybe it's patch related only and actually having seasons installed fixes whatever caused it. Not much use if you don't have it though or plan on getting it.

As for your faithful moodlet make sure you have them be flirty in public a lot, that seems to be the main trick i've found. The more people see you being romantic the more chance you will get the moodlet.

Thank you for the tip, Turoskel... I think they need more flirting in public then!

I do have Seasons though, so maybe it wasn't fixed everywhere.

Even if I downloaded the fix at MTS, I encounter the same problems as yours too!  My sims was driving with my cat and dog to Butterfly Esplanade (so as to practice the hunting skill), and then they stopped at the road, walked a bit, and back on the car again!

So, probably it's about patching.  Anyway, just ignore it(as I do)

Sometimes, my sim speeds by those spots, other times, she jumps out of her car and gets back in. Until Seasons (never downloaded the route fix from MTS) I didn't have this problem. So, I think it's an EA screw up with their weather and festivals.

I have this issue too and I only have the base game + late night. My sims get out of the car 2 or 3 times, stand around for a second and then get back in their car. They do end up going to where they're headed eventually but it's annoying.
