I decided to do this as a separate thread, it can be moved if it needs to be. I thought those who are not into gardening as a self-employed career, but on the side might find this useful.
I had been curious if moving my gardening family to another town would fix my gardening problem.
I am surprised at the results.
My control family was the gardening one that I had used to create a community garden. I didn't use any cheats, although I don't think that mattered.
Control family: Mom, Dad, child and baby. Mom and Dad had the glitch, the child did not. The baby too early. Both had been conceived after the glitch, not before.
I set them separate from their game.
Next, sent a copy from Riverview to Moonlight Falls, also sent, from Sunset Valley, a garden that I had created there. None of them, adults or child had the page of plants in the collection journal. It was blank for the child in MF, but NOT in RV.

Aged up the child to teen, read gardening book one. Mom and Dad had two money trees. Before aged him up I had had him harvest, no problem. After reading he planted some veggies. He was able to weed them without having to stop at one and be told to weed another.
Unfortunately, I hadn't thought about fall and the dormancy. I had moved up to it, ended up shortening it but set to skip winter. In fall, before the plants produced veggies, they went dormant. Had two days of winter, snow, definitely dormant.
Spring, waited I think it was five days, stayed dormant so moved up to Summer and the next day they started to produce. The parents still had the blank page, the son didn't and he had no problems in harvesting. Baby had gone to toddler, so after four days aged him up. He had no problem with the blank page.
Moved a copy to MF, back to all of them having a glitch, even with the son being a teen and having read the first two books. The toddler who had been aged up to child also had a blank page.
Definitely surprised with the kids losing their collection page when moved. Never thought it would go blank.
Hope this helps those who are gardening full time or part time.
I had lenghtened the days of summer, fall and spring and shorten winter for all of my games, so had to change for this game. Had to shorten more to get the seasons to moved up for growth of plants. Dormancy is a royal pain in ___.
