Hidden Springs...leaves not changing color
« on: November 21, 2012, 02:02:59 AM »
I have deciduous trees on my lot that haven't changed with the Autumn season. Does this only work with certain worlds? I'd love to see my yard transform through the seasons, but without Autumnal colors, that aspect is missing.

On another note, got totally spooked by my first in-game thunderstorm. :P

Can you narrow it down to one or two tree types?  I know the Black Gum trees turn (used in Sunset Valley).  Try placing one of those trees and see if it turns.  If it doesn't, it sounds like that world might not have been coded properly by EA.  You could check the official EA forums and see if anyone else has reported the issue.

I guess a more accurate way of wording this would be, "Is the change in leaves gradual, or instantaneous the moment you switch to Autumn?" My seasons are set to be 28 days long, so that might have an impact. But I'm going to be starting games in various base-game worlds to see what happens.

Edit: Okay, I think Hidden Springs is working just fine. Second day into Autumn and there are leaves on the ground. I think my green-leaved trees are turning slightly more yellowish, too. A tree that's not on the property has gone yellow-green.

I'm using the default 7 days.  The leaves on my trees started turning colour on the first day.  Not sure with a longer season how long before you would notice a change.  You could test it by starting a fresh Hidden Springs with the default settings for Fall and turn off the other seasons.  You might have to play a full day before the Fall season starts.  Then watch and see if you notice changes after another day.

I am playing in Hidden Springs and my deciduous trees changed color. Mind you most of the trees in Hidden Springs are evergreens. That town looks beautiful in the rain and fog.
