Martial Artist beaten by mummy
« on: June 21, 2010, 07:17:56 AM »
I wasn't sure which thread to put this in because I didn't find a thread specifically about this, but if there is one, just let me know.

My sim has maxed the martial art skill, the athletic skill, and is top of the martial arts tournament, but twice now she has been beaten and cursed by a mummy! I thought sims with that level of skill are supposed to defeat mummies! It's very disappointing. Does anyone have the same problem?

He, no, but unless it happens many more times I'd just say that you're having bad luck. ;)
The risk of losing a match is supposed to go down with increasing skill, but I have lost some really stupid matches sometimes.
Manbearpig simply wants to get you. I'm super cereal. - Al Gore :)

I'm pretty sure that needs have a lot to do with outcome.  If your sim's needs are low then they will not do as well in a fight.

What are exactly all the traits your sim has? And have you fullfilled the other challenges acording to the Martial Art skill yet?
I'm asking because I've find out that for example being a couch potato will do extremely bad in Martial Art. Of course I could have seeing that before, but I liked to try it out.

P.s. Wow, this is my 700 post I see now! :D

She is:

insane
disciplined
bookworm
heavy sleeper
adventurous

I don't remember exactly what her needs were like at the time, but I don't think they were bad... maybe

She's done all the adventures I can find, including the ones that max out the martial art skill, make you top of the martial arts tournament, and defeat dong hu - though actually the first time she was cursed was fighting dong ho (can't remember his exact name) but that was after the adventures i mentioned first.

Those traits are not bad if you ask me. But I have doubts about the heavy sleeper. Why did you choose that anyway? I got the feeling that you maybe could better replace it with athletic.
You know that athletic comes into count when sparring? Also the lucky trait will be practical. Because you will have a higher chance of winning a game. Or a match.
If you have the meditation moodlet at the time of sparring you also have a higher chance of winning the fight. That last one I have tested. My sim lost fight after fight with her own man while she was 10 and he level 9 until she got the concentration by meditation moodlet. Than she finally won the match.

I can't remember why I chose heavy sleeper, or if I even did choose it. She's from a multi-generational family and sometimes I have trouble looking after them so I can choose all their traits.
She's old now, and I won't be doing much adventuring with her anymore, she's just showing her son (collector) and his wife (photographer) around the different locations because she has visas that let her stay long. I was just disappointed that after all this time and work she still gets defeated. I feel she should be an old pro by now (she started adventuring when she was a teenager).

Hmmm, that is indeed strange. I'm afraid I can't help you further pally. But I'm sure there are other people here who can.
I will watch this topic though, for indeed I come up with something.
