Lightning isn't just for show...
« on: November 30, 2012, 11:28:54 AM »
So it's Spring and there's a thunderstorm going on.  Suddenly, I hear a REALLY loud strike and then what sounds like an explosion.  It was loud enough that I jumped in my chair.  I paused the game to see what had happened and found this...

That's where one of my cars used to be.  So now I'm thinking, I think I'll build a car port onto the garage. LOL

I'm glad the lightning strike was outside and nobody was hurt!  In Sims2 I once had a Sim killed by lightning inside the house.  Don't know if that's possible with Sims3 or not, but if I ever install Seasons I'll definitely want to disable lightning storms.  Does anyone know if turning off the rain will stop the lightning storms?

Options: Seasons & Environment

Enabled Weather (tick boxes for each)
Hail
Rain
Snow
Fog

So you can turn off Hail and Rain and that should get rid of thunder storms.  I haven't seen any lightning without rain or hail.

Whoa! Yes, it looks like carports or garages are definitely in order now. I wonder what else can be destroyed by a lightning strike.

One of my current Sims was hit by lightning while doing gardening during the first autumn season. I just about had a heart attack, especially since she had the soaked moodlet from working in the rain, but aside from getting knocked on her rear, staggering a bit and getting singed, she was fine.

I had a lightning strike on the roof of the Alvi house while my sim was putting out a small fire! I was very surprised it didn't cause more fire.

I'm scared of lightning in real life and last night I almost fall out off my chair when lightning strikes really hard in the game. :))
I don't want to turn it off, the graphics are too pretty!

Patio chairs, patio tables, umbrellas on patio tables, anything around a pool, the roof of the house, and the mailbox were all things I've had struck. The mailbox strike killed the mail woman and she's yet to be replaced an entire generation later :c

And I thought I had something to complain about when lightning destroyed my sculptor's masterpiece metal chair on the deck! At least it didn't cost as much as a car.
