Placing community lots

Hiya, first post and it is a tricky one!

I have just installed town life stuff and it comes with some pre made stores.  I never mess with community lots and so I have no experience with them.  But I am trying to update riverview by making another small town centre just out to the back where there's a nice flat space with residential lots on, so I can put bars, salons, laundry etc.  I have deleted them, and now I am putting down a 30 x 20 lot and assigning it to Laundromat and placing the pre made laundry on it.  My question is, how do I get another lot to snap right to the side of it so I can join them and make a street as such.  I try my best to get it as close as possible and I reckon I am about 1 pixel away and it just will not place the lot, even though it is green/yellow (I am colour deficient).  So I end up having a space between lots and I cannot fill this in with tiles to match up both lots.  Is there something I am doing wrong?

This question interested me also, though alas I have no answer. I too am unable to snap new lots to the sides of roads or other lots, they always end up diagonal. Does anyone have a solution?

I can snap them to the sides of roads, but only certain roads.  They should automatically follow the road if it is straight and move your mouse near them.  To turn your lot round use the < > keys.

Also, I think you can hold ALT while placing lots to fine-tune the placement of lots.

Welcome to our Forum, Chris.

I believe what you're talking about is the World Editor found in Edit Town mode.  To my knowledge, there's no way to make the new lots you create snap together.  I've never been able to manage, but I'm not an expert.  The pre-made stores in Town Life are basically meant to replace the ones that came with the game so that your town will have an updated look.  But even so, I haven't been able to replace all the buildings in Sunset Valley because of varying lot sizes.  It seems like different buildings will fit in different towns.  It's actually a bit annoying.

Also, I'm going to move this topic to the Miscellaneous Help board.  Technical Help is intended to help with problems with the mechanics of the game, whereas what you have is a problem with the game play.

You can't place lots together. The closest you can get two lots is one block apart.
A clear conscience is usually a sign of a bad memory.

Thanks for the replies.  I have been playing all day and I think I might put it to one side till the new patch comes out.  There's far too many bugs restricting game play.  It is driving me nuts.  >:(

I'm reviving this thread as it answers some of what I want to know, but not all.

I want to add some buildings to MF; I hate those combined community buildings of two or three in one building.

What I am wondering is, if I put in a building that is the same type, business building the Dee something Tower, and there is already another business of same type, will that create problems?

Both will then offer the same skills training, such as writing or charisma or other skill.  How does that work, you can chose with one to go to and no problems?  Or do I need to remove the other buildings and add them as separate buildings, such as what SV has?

The same with the Bistro, did adding it create a problem?  I haven't had a sim take a cooking class to see if there is one.

I'm probably being overly cautious, but I like to make sure first.  I always save before I do any changes, so I can at least go back before if it doesn't work.
