Hi! I am back (with some questions)!
« on: November 11, 2012, 02:22:38 AM »
Hi guys!
It was a looooooooooong time since I last played Sims 3. I had the intention to play the Challenge Tournament in 2011 but just when I got started tragedy struck in our family and I really had my focus on other stuff. Now almost 2 years later life is good and balanced again and after playing some neverendinggames and MMO's i am once drawn to sims3. It does not end in a sence. But at least you can put it on pause when you leave it^^

Now I have some questions: I am not really the most random girl, so I like to have a plan when I go in playing. Hence in wait for the next years challenges I want to try play through the earlier ones. But if I go as far back as to 2009 several expansions were not yet released. To not get any complications or unfair advantages - is there any  way that I can have all EP installed. But decide brtween each saved game which EP to use?

Heres to a challenging 2013!

Hi Bloudwedd.

You can really do anything you want with the closed challenges because it's just for your own amusement and won't go on a leaderboard.  So, you can hold yourself strictly to the rules, or you can make modifications to allow for the expansion packs.  Of course, when you start the 2013 tournament you will have to follow the rules strictly because it will be an active challenge.

Have you considered playing one of the Dynasty challenges?  We have three now:  Immortal Dynasty, Townie DecaDynasty, and Life States Dynasty.  They are long and complex, but a great deal of fun.  It's not required, but you can also write a story as you play (my stories are linked in my signature below).

I can't think of a way to turn off EPs in different saves. If you were very familiar with each EP you could always just not use the objects/interactions from specific EPs. Or you could play through the previous challenges in sequence, and install each EP as you go. Or perhaps you could have multiple accounts on your computer, and have different EPs installed on them?? (I'm not sure if that's possible, though).

If you are not averse to using mods or third party applications, you can download the Any Game Starter 3 utility to create different virtual installations which can each use different EP and SP combinations. You can find the utility here.
