Press Tab in Life Mode and turn the camera up slightly.
I wonder how the sink will look like from underneath.

I no longer have this in game as it was just in a building file I was using to do a stair tutorial, but I can tell you that from lower down it looked just as you would expect it to look, the rounded bottom of the sink showing beneath the bench top.

How do you make counters like this
« Reply #18 on: November 24, 2012, 10:37:05 AM »
Yo guys! I completely forgot how I did this. I remember reading about the technique I believe on this website somewhere on the forums and was trying to google it and search the website forever but nothing. This was in a bathroom in one of my builds. The thing I am talking about (difficult to see in the image, sorry) are the two bathroom counters with the sinks on them. You can see the drawers are deleted but the countertops are intact allowing the use of the sinks as well as allowing me to move flowers under them (as you can see). I remember it had to do with testingcheatsenabled and control-shift clicking the counter, maybe using delete somehow there. But when I do that now it just deletes the entire thing. There might have been more steps that I am forgetting. I also including the download link for the build if you need to see closer, the bathroom is on the second floor to the left. I thought at first the game was fixed for this glitch, but when I place my build it yet shows up like this, so I am thinking there is yet a way to do so. Thanks!

Sorry to clarify the counters are in the bottom left of the image, and the counters to which are I am referring are the two side by side with sinks, not the sink that is by itself. Thanks!

You use testingcheats and ctrl+shift+click and then delete object, I think you need to place a dishwasher or something and then delete that though. There was a thread somewhere where someone asked and did this. I know I've done it but it's not something I've done enough times to remember it for sure.

Edit: I've found the thread and will merge this thread with that one since they're on the same topic.  :)

What? You can remove parts of furniture? That is wicked, I like it!
I am wondering on thing though: does this decreases the value of the item? If so, this could be THE solution in starter homes to save up money for other furniture.

I think it only works on counters. Also I doubt it does as you aren't selling the base of the counter you're deleting it with a cheat?

Mwahaha, I knew it was somewhere here! Thank you so much. It was driving me nuts. It is the dishwasher you delete to create the effect not the counter hah, so obvious now but I could not remember it at all. Thank you again for locating this old thread!!!!!!

Exactly. Which was what made me doubt myself, if it would work.

Yeah this is a neat trick. I use it for shelving in the laundry room to put laundry detergent and folded clothes on.
