Story Is Progressing Even Though I Turned It Off!
« on: October 16, 2012, 05:07:44 PM »
I have several playable families in my neighborhood, and I've been switching playing them back and forth. Recently I spent a lot of time with my "main" family to age up babies to adults.... I go back to one of my other families and they've aged up several days, as well as developing relationships and careers I don't want them to have! I double-checked and I have "Story Progression" turned off, so why is it progressing without me? It means my toddlers have not aged well because their parents never bothered to teach them stuff. Help!!

Did you also have aging off or just story progression?  Story progression means they won't move or anything but it doesn't stop their aging I thought.

Is there any way to turn aging on for the active family but turn it off for everyone else? What I don't get is why my sims suddenly have professions when I have the story mode off... But apparently this is a huge problem for a lot of people.

There isn't a way to automatically have your active household age while the rest of the world doesn't, but you could keep track of the active household's ages and age them up with the birthday cake/testingcheats when they should be having a birthday. Yes, it involves a ton of micromanaging.

That is what I do. Story Progression and Aging off - I age my sims up myself with cheats/cake and count their days myself. As for the careers and relationships - turning story progression off is not perfect (because I imagine the game is designed to have it on) so if your sim is unemployed, you may find them to be suddenly very high up in a profession like the Stylist career, and they become friends with people on their own too - though I have yet to see them become enemies on their own. Other things include having kittens/puppies on their own - I just take them out when I want to play them.
