Living off opportunities

Has anyone tried this? Is it feasible? I would imagine your sim would need to have a pretty diverse skillset in order to accomplish this... might have to try it later.
i just wanna be something more than the mud in your eyes; i want to be the clay in your hands.

I imagine it would be, as the rewards for some skill opportunities are pretty good. If they had no other income source they would never get Work opportunities, but I feel like the Skill opportunities give the best rewards anyways.

When you want to be something, the world can't define, open up your eyes.

I think it depends on the skills you have. I find painting and sculpting opportunities offer the most money, especially when you get to the higher levels. Celebrity opportunities are fairly good too if you have Late Night. I'm fairly sure it'd be possible but you wouldn't have much in the way of luxury. I might have to try it though.

I've done a practice game living off of vacation opportunities/adventures, but that also had the benefits of found items for the tombs.   It does sound doable, so long as you start off very frugally and grab the opportunity enhancing LTR to maximize your gain.
We hobbits are plain, quiet creatures. Adventures make one late for dinner.

Actually, that's how I "accidentally" played my first ever Sims 3 sim. I installed base game and Late Night, thinking I wanna be a guitarist and live on tips. I stumbled upon a few celebrities friends and became one myself. Then the manufacturers keep sending me expensive stuffs, cars, furnitures etc. I just sell them off whenever I needed money and became quite well off. If those are not counted as opportunities, I also attend some cameo sessions and made several cool 5 thousand simoleons.

I never did earn a lot from tips. =( Nobody watches my performances.

My painters used to be able to make a lot of money on opportunities, but I've recently found that the highest-paying painting opp was bugged.  This was the opportunity to take 15 paintings to City Hall.  I tried and tried, but could not get my Sim to complete the opportunity.  She had the paintings in her inventory but couldn't "deliver paintings."  Also, there have been problems with some of the sculpting opportunities for a long time - they just don't pay anything at all.  Not all of them, but one in particular asks for a Masterpiece sculpture to be delivered, and pays nothing.
