Portrait painting problems
« on: September 17, 2012, 01:25:13 PM »
My level 10 artist suddenly can't paint anyone!  She can neither do a portrait nor capture a still life; in both cases I can click on the subject and then it returns to normal screen, but she doesn't paint anything.  The canvas doesn't appear at all.  She just stands there, and the command disappears from the que at the top.  I've tried getting her to paint everyone in the house and I've reset her.  Help!

Try buying her a new easel and if that doesn't work save to main menu and start up the game again. This has happened to me a few times.

Maybe even clean out your cache files just to make sure you've done all the basic things.

Thanks ladies. I wil try to delete the easel first as I have never cleared out the cache files before and it sounds scary.  (I'll do a search here, I'm sure someone's explained how to do it.)

It's actually quite simple.   You can find a post here on the basics.   One thing I will mention is do not delete your DCBackup folder.  The rules have changed a bit.  You can delete everything in the DCBackup folder except for the ccmerged.package file.  Beyond that it should help and if you have any questions, you can always ask.

Selling and re-buying the easel did the trick. Thanks!

If it happens again, try this:

Go to buy mode
Ctrl-Shift-C and type testingcheatsenabled true
Ctrl-Shift-Left Click on the easel (or any other misbehaving object)
Click on Reset
