frozen lot in China
« on: September 25, 2012, 09:35:50 AM »
I have sims3, WA, Ambitions, and Generations installed.  My sim was in china completing an adventure in the dragon's maw when the lot froze up.

I tried exiting and reentering the game and deleting dccache files.

When my sim gets to the dragon's maw, he can open it, then go down the stairs, but once he's in the tomb, he cannot do anything.  Even if I click on the floor, I get the "no interactions available" message, so I can't even have him walk around.  Please help!

I have relatively minimal custom content installed -- some storage shelves for small collectibles, a few custom pieces of clothing, a few custom patterns, a few custom hairstyles (<15 of each).  The games were not installed in order, as I had the base game and Ambitions before I bought the other two.  Base game and ambitions are from cd; other two are origin downloads.

Please help; he just spent two trips to china improving his martial arts skills so that he could defeat dong huo (or however you spell that) and now he can't even get into the tomb to do so!

After posting that opening message, I read around a bit and installed nraas' master controller.  I went back in and selected "reset lot" and it didn't solve anything.

More details:  when in the tomb, I can click on an open (formerly) secret door, but the only option available is "close".

If I click on the floor in the tomb, I still get the "no interactions available" message even though I should at least get the "nraas" option in the menu even if nothing else.

I reset the lot from upstairs, outside the portal that my sim opens every time he goes there; it did *something* to the tomb, as rooms that had been visible before became invisible again, but my sim still could not actually do anything in the tomb except go back up the stairs and leave.

Thank you!

I had a similar situation some time ago.  My Sim was exploring the cave and suddenly "jumped" outside the cave.  I reset the sim, after which she could not enter the cave at all.  I eventually went back to the game generated back-up file and replayed the whole sequence.  If you have not saved twice, with the same game name, while in this situation you should be able to find the backup without the glitch and rename it to a playable file.  If I encounter a problem, I immediately save my game with a new name so that the original game backup file is available.

Another idea, but, I am not certain it will work, is to use your mod to reset the cave then cancel the opportunity.  You should get the Op re-offered fairly quickly.
