Magic Hands LTR after death

Ok, so here's the deal. My Manwitch Stannis died by being transmuted to gold. Beforehand I had already bought him the Magic hands LTR. After being ressurected (as a ghost), by the philosopher's stone, he still has the LTR but doesn't use it - he uses his wand instead. Any tips?

Did you remove the wand from his inventory?

Yes and he could only conjure poisonous apple, but not cast any spells or charms... And even beforehand he could cast spells with his hands with the wand in his inventory.
