"The rules of the owners' association don't allow that"???
« on: August 28, 2012, 12:35:33 PM »
I'm Editing In Game trying to build a science facility in the Riverview map, in the same place where it's in the original Riverview. I can put the rabbit-hole there, flowers, plants, fountains, whatever I want, but when I try to put a fence I get an error message saying that "the rules of the owners' association don't allow that" (or something like that in spanish). What the heck is this!?  ???

If you have placed an Apartment or LN Building you need to use the cheat "restrictbuildbuyinbuildings false". That sounds like your problem as that is the notification given.

Was the fence on the very edge of the lot?

I've had that come up in odd situations too. In fact when I was working on my School Dorm I hadn't used any hidden room markers at all and no doors were marked as NPC doors. All I had was a level skip marker in the foundation level and all of the sudden I had to use (restrictBuildBuyInBuildings off) to do any more work on it. Just because of a level skip marker.

So basically even if you're not working on an apartment building any time you get that (The rules of the owners' association don't allow that) error than (restrictBuildBuyInBuildings off) is what you need to use to get around it.

I've also noticed it happening randomly sometimes. Once it happened on a lot that I demolished, where some Late Night facility had been. There was nothing left there but the lot was somehow still marked as an apartment or whatever it had been before.

If there has ever been a late night building or maker on the lot then it will always retain the home owners association thing. Well it used to do it so it could have been fixed and this a one off by I'm pretty sure it's always done this. It's quite irritating.  ::)
