Help with inventory on Sims 3 pc?

Hi all!   

I'm sorry if this is a really stupid question (I feel like it's really stupid, lol  ), but how do you move something from one sim's inventory to another's, and/or move it into the family inventory? (I know where the family inventory is, I just can't figure out how to move things from inventory to inventory.)

Up until a week ago I was playing sims 3 on my x-box 360, where a sim's personal inventory was accessible to the entire family, but now that I'm playing it on the pc this setup is a bit more confusing.

Click and drag.  Just click on it, hold the mouse button down and then drag it to the other sim, or (I think) the other sim's avatar.

The way I usually move an item from one sim to another is to grab the item and place it on the desired sim's icon on the left of your screen or the sim itself. Now, the way put items in the family inventory is to put the items on the ground, go into buy mode and grab it and place into the family inventory. Hope this helps!

Not a stupid question at all. I even learned something. When moving items from one sim to another I've always dragged it to the other sim. I didn't know I could drag it to their picture.
