No Pet Adoption Center

Okay, for the longest time now the pet adoption center has been an empty house, I've waited for someone to move in but it's stayed empty for an entire generation now.  This is sad because one of my sims has a wish to adopt a cat but every time he checks the paper there are none available. He's tried interacting with strays (He's a cat person btw) but they run away after only a few interactions and by the time they show up again (Days later) the relationship has dropped. 

Is there any way to get a pet adoption center working in town again? This is getting on my nerves and I'm running out of patience, tired of playing the waiting game.

Try calling to adopt one from the shelter. It should work.

I've had this glitch in my DecaDynasty game.  It's the Neighborhood Pet Adoption that's messed up.  It's supposed to be a family in town with pets to let your Sim adopt.  I haven't found a way to fix it.  I'm surprised that the newspaper doesn't have any cats for adoption.  I generally have six available every day.  Try using the phone or computer to adopt from the shelter.  And check that newspaper every day.

This has hit my Dynasty file, but it's no biggie to me at this particular moment (Dynasty is almost complete).

However, I wonder if evicting the "household" to the clipboard would be of any help - I'm wondering if the family left, but the pet(s) are still stuck inside the house?

That actually doesn't help.  I have found no real solution to this other than the ones suggested here and a mod.  It's not really a game breaker from what I can see.  Just means you have to rely on the Adoption agency versus the neighborhood.

I had my sim start checking the newspaper again every day (He had stopped for a while) and after a few days six cats popped up and my family now has a beautiful little Balinese kitty.
