A Good Choice?
« on: October 09, 2012, 07:55:22 AM »
Do you think buying Late Night is a good choice?

As long as I know, Bridgeport has lots of routing issues, the multi-rabbitholes don't work for opporutunities, drafting table does not work so no simbots, elevators stuck, high rise being not satisfiying...

But, oddly enough, I LOVE to build skyscrapers.  But I heard that the shells in Bridgeport aren't avaliable even in Buydebug.  But some say Patch 18 includes them all...

Vampire isn't being most attractive, so does the bars and clubs...  Film may be good, perhaps?

So, I have read the Late Night guide quite a few times, maybe some can give me honest suggestions?  (According to the gameplay and in general conclusion)

There was a similar thread before concerning whether or not to buy Late Night, you should look it up for various answers from other members.

Personally, I love the EP. Many don't because of celebrities; but, I find their snootiness challenging for my sim. I don't find too much difficulty with routing issues (but then I use a mod that corrects issues). Small sleepy towns aren't my thing, since my sim doesn't intend to have a ton of kids. If you want to do gardening, there aren't too many houses with yards for that. I revamped Bridgeport by putting in smaller lots (like Plumbob studio - I use a 40x40 one instead of the 64x64) I was able to save space by combining some of the rabbitholes (school/sport arena; hospital/science center; theater/big show venue; smaller fire station and smaller library). By putting in a smaller park, I gained space for more houses where the 64x64 size park was.

The bars and clubs are fun, and if you want to have a band, you can play gigs in them. My sim has been thrown out of many for sneaking past the bouncers. Had her beat up one bouncer when he took her bribe but still didn't let her in.

I find the film job a bit boring; but, only because I've done it many times. I prefer the music career, easier to make friends and you have the town "worshiping" in rock star.

I think Late Night is still worth it. I personally love vampires (yeah, you can get them in Supernatural, but I got Late Night first), and with the new population controls, celebrities are hardly an issue. Bridgeport does have issues, but it's still one of my favorite worlds based on scenery alone.

Most of all, the pack just gives your sims more to do. Mixology, more instruments, high-class living, venues, and my favorite selection of CAS objects. It's one of my favorite EPs, right behind Supernatural.

The skyscraper shells are in Buy Debug. All of them are.

Personally, I found some parts a bit boring. Vampires just make you life difficult, especially if they have a family (At one point my current family had the parents vampires and their 5 children humans(which was impossible and annoying)). In Bridgeport, it takes forever to get any where from the celebrity area, making it hard to get promotions. They sky is always dark and the clubs are OK. I haven't tried mixology yet- I hope it is good.

However, the celebrity system is cool and all the furniture, clothes and hairstyles are worth at least 50% of the total price. If all you were interested in was celebrities, furniture and the clothes and hair, then you would like this pack. However if you were looking forward to playing in Bridgeport, you might just be better making your own urban city to play in.

I don't know why everyone has routing issues with Bridgeport. I haven't experienced that many, unless it's tons of people trying to get into the same elevator.
I would suggest (unless you like gardening) that you move your sim into a high rise. Using cheats, you can steal room from the NPCs to get a larger apartment, and then your sim is within walking distance to most downtown attractions. I had a 3 bedroom apartment by stealing space.

I did have a lot of routing problems with my old graphic card and it take sims forever to go somewhere or prepare food,
With a stronger graphic card I didn't have that problems and no lag at all. I think it depends on the card.

The drafting table has nothing to do with Simbots, by the by.

Drafting is for stylist/architect profession; the Simbots are through invention. The Master Invention opportunity appears to be bugged, yes, but that's unrelated to the table.
