Children Tutoring Children (or Teens)?
« on: August 15, 2012, 02:50:18 AM »
Can children with level 5 logic skill or higher tutor other children for school performance?

I'm mildly curious about teenagers as well, though my understanding is that only family-oriented sims (unless the sim being tutored is part of the family?) can do that and while for my purposes that won't apply, I may as well ask since I'm here...I'm assuming that any one sim can tutor any another sim regardless of age in specific known skills as long as the sim doing the tutoring is at level 10 logic, and the sim learning is old enough to learn the skill being taught.

I'd find out myself, but I tend to play one game at a time and right now it's my immortal dynasty - my plan is for logic to be one of the skills, but it's not happening for several generations, so I'm hoping to capitalize on that generation's classmates while they're young. If that's not possible, I might switch the order up or change the skill (hopefully not the latter). I don't see why children wouldn't be able to do so if they had the skill for it, but I don't want to find out the hard way since the margin for error will be tiny at that point.

Mods, please move/merge this elsewhere if there's a similar thread I missed or if it's better in the immortal dynasty thread. Thanks!

Did a little bit of testing.

Nope, sadly it seems children can't tutor one another with regard to schoolwork. Teenagers, however, can tutor both other children and other teenagers, regardless of whether the tutored Sim is part of the family or the tutoring sim has the Family Oriented trait. (My Teenage Sim with only the Friendly trait and logic 10 was able to successfully tutor Holly Alto.)

I'm assuming that any one sim can tutor any another sim regardless of age in specific known skills as long as the sim doing the tutoring is at level 10 logic, and the sim learning is old enough to learn the skill being taught.

Yes, that's correct.

Oh wow, thanks for doing that drift9999 - just loading the game up on my laptop is a process so I really do appreciate you taking a look.

That's a bummer about the children, but I'm glad I asked, I just had a feeling...oh well. I'm glad teens can tutor one another in addition to children though, regardless of traits - it almost makes up for the children not being able to do so.
