A lot of problems and bugs...
« on: August 16, 2012, 01:16:58 PM »
First, I can't even click on my Sims for some reason. (I can click their portrait, but not the sim)

and I don't know that this is, but it's always at the top where the interactions are.

and a lot of these notifications pop up whenever I start my Sims 3 game...

... and my Sims 3 game keeps crashing! I have a story and it's pretty frustrating when it crashes when I'm taking pictures or writing something and then I have to go to the old save.. :/

I'm probably going to end my story because of this..

I see you have mods. I'm far from being an computer expert but I wanted to ask something important so that the others can help you better.

Did this start right after installing a mod? Which mods do you have? Are you sure the mods are updated to the latest patch and not interacting with each other?

I have no idea if this is a mod issue but it could well be. Have you tried removing the mods and loading the game without them? Although I've read that sometimes just removing the mod doesn't work, but you could at least try. If it's not the mods causing trouble you can always put them back.

Also, have you patched your game recently? if you did and this problem started right after it, it could be a patching issue.

It didn't happen before, but I was installing some mods yesterday. (Hair, a few poses, some stuff from the Sims 3 resource..) I had a lot of mods. I have about 456 items in my Mod>Packages folder. (Mostly hair, clothes, and stuff like that but I do have a bunch of mods from Twallan and ModtheSims) And I'll try that. But no, I haven't patched my game recently. But I just noticed that in my Documents>Electronic Arts>Sims 3 folder, I have 10 files called ScriptError_PC or something similar like that. Do I delete them?

I have no idea, you should wait for someone else to answer that.

I'm not sure, but for the huge amount of custom content you have, and the mods, it sounds like you have a bad CC issue. Something you installed yesterday is not working properly, I would say. I doubt it's the Twallan's mods since they are known to be good stuff, but it could be the hair or clothes. I used to have a lot of CC in The Sims 2 and always had issues like this, that's why I don't download anything now.

My advice is just to delete the custom content you have. Try loading the game without CC (there's an option to select in the launcher, where the installed content is I think) and see if it helps. But note that this will remove all the CC you have in-game and replace it with other stuff, and I think you can't undo that. You can load the game with CC again afterwards, but I think you have to put all the custom furnishing and clothes etc back yourself, even if you don't save I think.

There are also some methods to try to find the bad custom content that's causing the trouble but I'm not sure I can explain them here without breaking the rules. A quick google search should help you though.

Another thing you could try is a Factory Reset, as shown here:

http://www.carls-sims-3-guide.com/forum/index.php/topic,7507.0.html

It has saved me a couple of times.

I know maybe you won't like this, but I would recommend avoiding CC. I can tell you from my own experience that it causes much more trouble than you can think of. There are thousands of issues like this you can get from low quality custom content, and the more stuff you download, the higher the risk. It's just my advice  ;).

Thanks for your help, Frey. I really appreciate it, but I need a few more solutions that can help me without removing all my mods and CC. XD I've grown really attached to my CC and mods. I just wanna remove that one bad mod and then continue. :|

It looks like ErrorTrap is catching a lot of errors if you use that.  The ScriptError files are the files that are uploaded to Twallan's website to find out why you're getting the errors.

The main culprit is most likely a piece of CC or a mod that conflicting that you may have installed yesterday.  I would remove everything that you installed yesterday (if you remember what they were) and only put in a few at a time to see what happens in the game.   Eventually after only putting in 5, you'll figure out what exactly is causing the problem.

I would also suggest looking on the twallan's nraas site into how to upload the file and get up from him as he would know best how to help you with the ScriptErrors you're getting.

While it is our policy to allow discussion of mods on the Forum, it is limited to sharing information about what they do and where to get them.  We don't do technical support of the mods themselves.  If what warr2098 suggested doesn't work and you're not willing to remove the mods, there's not much we can do.

Oh sorry about that, and the game works now. :) I had to remove this mod that I downloaded a few days ago. You can lock this thread if you want.
