Suggesting something for Having a Baby guide.
« on: May 19, 2010, 08:07:41 PM »
I noticed that in the parenting guide, you said that watching kid's channel, listening to kid's music, etc. will increase chances of twins/triplets.

You may want to add this though:If you eat multiple apples/watermelons, it increases chance of have multiples. Here is a nifty guide to explain better.

1 fruit=1 baby

2 fruits=2 babies

So on, so on.

You may want to be careful about eating 2 fruits though, because a lot of times I end up having triplets! You may also want to add you only need one piece of fruit to determine the gender.

If something seems confusing, please post below!

Hi Sydney!

Thanks for the suggestions.  However, my experience and the experience of many others doesn't support your claims.  The number of fruit eaten during the pregnancy has nothing to do with the number of babies born.  It's also commonly known that eating 3 to 6 of the appropriate fruit is required to bring the desired gender.  Never is one piece enough.  My expecting mothers regularly eat up to 10 pieces of fruit and always get the gender I want and it's almost always a single baby unless I do something to bring multiples, such as watching Kids TV and using the fertility treatment.

I'm curious as to where you got this information and how much you have tested it in your own game.

I got it from youtube I believe. I tested it many times and I get the same results, although it has been awhile since I tried it again.

Pam is right.  Alot of players have done the same thing and it doesn't matter how many fruits you eat to get a certain number of babies, unless you watch kids tv or listen to radio and then it is still not 100% that it will be multiple, but usually you get twins if anything, there is a bigger chance though.  I have only had it happen once where I ate watermelon from the first sign of pregnancy until the end and still got a boy, but that was only once, all of the other times it was girls.  Some of those sites do not even give documented details on info from the sims, but here, everyone has played and experimented and researched all of the info on this site, so the members that join always get the right information and then sometimes someone comes up with new info that is shared and proven, so we basically all learn together at some point.

I make my sims eat 10 apples/watermelons just to make sure I get the gender that I want. I never seem to get mutliple births without the fertility reward.

Even without the fertility reward you can have twins, triplets are harder to get, but you can get them.  You have to almost constantly watch kids channel and listen to kids radio nonstop while your sim is pregnant.  I tried it and got twins once and triplets once, but it is too much work.  Even with the fertility you have a better chance, but still not 100%.

First it says "Before a Sim is visibly pregnant, you should have them eat one of two fruit in order to make the baby be a boy or girl." but if you don't eat apples or watermelons during that time once you are visibly pregnant you can eat apples or watermelon to choose the baby's gender.

Second the other night my world renowned surgeon husband said i was going to have a boy i went to the supermarket and ate 10 watermelon 3 days later my sims had triplets two girls and one boy

Welcome to the Forum, sdoge96!

Carl's initial testing indicated that the apples and watermelon had to be eaten before the Sim is visibly pregnant, but I think we've seen it enough to change the guide to what you suggested.  And congratulations on getting mixed gender triplets.  That's very rare and I've only heard of it happening one other time!

Ok, that makes more sense then.  It's the fertility treatment that's causing your multiple births, not the fruits.

My first game ever I ate like 5 watermelon and without the fertility award, listening to kid's music and without watching kids tv, I got twins.

There is a small chance a sim will have twins without FT, kids tv or kids music.  Your sim was lucky enough to hit that small chance, and would have had those twins without watermelons.  In my game I have occasionally had twins without using FT, kids tv, kids music AND without using watermelons or apples.

The idea that fruit can increase the chance of multiple births is one of those myths about the game that spread for no apparent reason, much like the TwinzR2Cute myths that used to spread about TS2.  I've spent a lot of time hanging out on forums where some people like to do extensive testing (i.e. they'll run a scenario over and over and over again, not just once or twice), and where some people are familiar enough with the code to create mods.  There is neither code evidence nor testing evidence to back up the myth that fruit increases the odds of a multiple birth.
