Space rocks stuck in inventory

A while ago, I had collected some space rocks with my Sim, and had analyzed them, but hadn't sold them yet.  I installed Generations since then, and now three of the rocks are stuck in my inventory.  The cursor changes tot he hand when I hover over them, but they won't move when clicked.  I finally got a new identical rock to one of them, hoping that the stacking interface would break it from being stuck, but now I just have two stuck rocks that I can't move or sell.  Anyone had this problem and solved it?

I also had the a similar problem with the same Sim's personal fire engine.  It would be in my inventory, but unmovable.  She'd use it to move around when not at work.  Out of frustration, I eventually just deleted it while it was sitting in front of my building using the testingcheatsenabled cheat.  Since I think the idea of a firefighter working from home is a bit silly anyways, that one isn't that big a problem, but I wonder if it's connected to the space rocks issue.

Any help would be appreciated.

I had the same problem with newspapers. They were stuck in my inventory, and cursor would change to hand. Then, i restarted the game and it worked fine, i could move it. If you haven`t tried it out, try it now.

This problem has been going on for awhile, through any number of game restarts.  However, I just played my Sim, and I was able to interact with the stacked items now.  I'm not sure what changed.  Maybe just giving it a sec or switching Sims or something did the trick.  The other two rocks are still stuck.  Guess I just have to wait until I find an identical rock to stack them with.

If you have world adventures, sometimes when you travel, inventory will become unstuck.   If you have the option, gifting the rocks to another Sim will also work.

Gifting only worked once they were unstuck.  And I had read about the vacation thing, I just didn't want to go on a vacation at the moment.

Did you clear caches at some point? That often helps with stuck inventory objects.

I hadn't tried that, didn't know that was an option.  I assume from reading another thread that the four .package files in the main directory are the ones to be deleted?

And all the ones in your DCBackup folder except the ccmerged file.

Thanks, I'll give it a try.  Hopefully it'll solve a new problem that just cropped up.  If not, time for a new topic!

Well, it didn't fix the space rocks problem.  Bleh.

I got it fixed.  Seems I just needed an update.  *sigh*
