Game locks up when trying to evict townie family
« on: August 06, 2012, 10:44:16 AM »
I'm playing on Bridgeport, and I have my eye on the Littlers' old house in the Hill's section of town.  They moved to a bigger house a while ago, and for a bit, their house stood empty, but before I had a chance to move in, a new family moved into the house.  When I try to evict them, the game locks up, stuck on the 'Processing...' message, and won't do anything.  I'm not sure what caused it.  I've restarted the game several times, all with the same result.  I'm going to let it sit for awhile, but I don't expect it to free itself up.  And regardless, I don't want to have to wait this long every time I want to rearrange my neighborhood.

I know it gets rid of wishes and stuff but have you tried changing household to that family to make sure they don't have a million things in their inventory which is what is locking up your system?  Then you could try to move them in game then pop back over to your regular family.

I have some long-term wishes active in my family I don't want to reset.  If I can pear those down into some minor ones, I might consider it.  Hopefully I can find a solution before that.

I switched to the family in question, which is actually a mashup of other townies that I know, Elvira Slayer included.  Seems two distinct families moved in together despite barely knowing each other.  I'm not sure if that's relevant (probably not).  In any case, their inventories were light, none of them are stuck.  I'm not sure what could be causing the hangup.

I've also tried evicting another family, and it went smoothly.  So it's definitely tied to that house and/or group of sims.

I did some poking around, and it seems like the problem is tied to the lot itself.  None of the current residents are to blame.  I'll add some detail so that it's clear how this household was formed.

Elvira Slayer is dating Todd Lynch (according to the wiki, he's originally a random unemployed townie, homeless i presume).  In my game, he became my firefighter's boss.  Anyways, they moved in together and ended up sharing this lot with Ti Bellino, her husband Ricky Bellino (originally Bailey), and Ti's friend Daisy Swizzle.  The odd part is that the lot is named Berman.  Since none of them has that as a surname, I find it rather odd.  And since Berman isn't used with any premade sims, I assume it's a randomly generated name for a family I'm not even aware of in-game.

I was able to evict all five members together, but they didn't go to the clipboard, just disappeared.  The house remained 'occupied', but with no Sims assigned to it.  And eviction even then causes the hangup.  So I'm not sure what to do at this point.  I can't delete the lot, either, because it's occupied.  I also tried evicting them by splitting them into two families.  Whichever one is split off last (emptying the house) disappears and won't appear in the clipboard.
