Where do the townies hang out?

I think this is a really good question, I've asked it myself through the years and I have decided it depends on your hood and your sims in your hood and the expansions and stuff packs you have.  I like to shake all my hoods up and bring in elements of all the expansions and have a nice assortment of places to go but not too many.  If you saturate your hood with many night spots, eateries and other community lots, you'll water down the 'herding' pool for your sims.  I start out small with my night club placements and see what sims of mine go out to frequent these places and how busy they are.  Almost all my sims except my vampires have horses and the horse ranch/equestrian grounds are very popular.  My vampires will frequent my vampire club as well as any other night club.  I also put pet food, beds, hitching posts and other pet related objects on my public lots to encourage my pets to frequent the lots AND the wild horses.

And if you do have a lot of horses in your game, make sure to have lots with hay spread out and water troughs, as they populate your hood they will come to these lots first  before they settle in a fishing spot.  And your sims that want to watch a wild horse will also frequent the 'horse' lots and they can get very populated with both sims and animals.

Finally able to get back on; grandkids have gone home and now I have peace and quiet.

Update, There seems to be a few more sims showing up, I can only assume that I have to have been playing that town for a while for them to be downloaded to that town (and we now what assuming is    ).

I did fix it however by creating a park for humans, not animals.  I took where there is an old house in town and tore it down and created Heritage Park, put in a restroom, a nice octogon (minus one side) with a couple of benches outside and a couple of chess sets and fountain in the center.  The horses aren't happy they can't get in but this is for humans, not the four legged critters.  Put a drink bar, which everyone seems to love, they make drinks and sit and talk at the tables.  I put in one area a couple of tables and in another area a swing and a couple of benches. 

Flowers, a couple of small trees beside the restroom.  Not really great, my second try at creating that type of area for my towns, but it gives a place where the sims are showing up, even when my sims aren't there.

Strange, because where my sim decides to go in Bridgeport, at least 4 or more townies show up at the same place. I have even added another dance club, the casino and live show venues. But, they seem to congregate where she goes.
