As the title says: you can buy your Ambitions Prima Guide at Bol.com now. It is 14,99 euro for a book of 176 pages (language English). Of course I've already preorderd it. :)

I don't want to burst your bubble, Leto, but I got the download version of the prima guide, and I think it's just awful.  It doesn't even list the new LTW's, or I haven't found them.  You will find much better information from here, once it's written and available.  And the info here is free!

I'll admit it, I own it ;) It does have a lot of new stuff under new simology. The only reason I like having it is so I can get a quick rundown of what's new without having to scour the net and the manual for things I should look into for the guide. A lot of info is off, and it doesn't have very detailed info for what it does provide. That's understandable though, and a lot of people will buy it and never bother with a site like mine. They'll still love our forum though.

It will take some time but we'll pass it in information. We already have a ton more for those features that are covered. A lot of their pages are spent with lists of things, some trivial. We have a different focus in figuring out how things work and how best to use it, and no surprise... that takes more time than summarizing things.

I wouldn't discourage anyone from buying it but nor would I want to spend 15 euros. I got mine for $12 in a small size. When I'm done, and the others have put in their submissions, you'll find info pretty fast with the search function.

I have the Prima Guide, too, so that I can hopefully help folks around here quickly if we don't already have the information on the Guide. Many times the Prima Guide is inaccurate or incomplete, but it's better than nothing when just starting. This one is hard for me to read, too, because the print is so tiny. My eyes aren't as sharp as they used to be!

I like to have the prima guide so I have something to read on the way to work and back ;) . I have a half-hour train ride each way and it usually gives me a couple of days of interesting reading, which is about the same price as buing novels for those days. Mit 7-year-old also likes to look through all my sims guides (yes, I have all of them for Sims1 and Sims2, too  :-[ ) because she enjoys looking at the screenshots.

Leto, Amazon.de has the guide even cheaper at 9.99 Euros. That might be cheaper for some people, depending on their location and the shipping costs. The only thing that confuses me is that they have the english version listet twice with different ISBN numbers and page size (here and here). I have not yet figured out what the difference is between those two, except that one does not seem available yet. Maybe UK and US editions?

Yes, there is a difference between the UK and US version. It should be, because I saw I was buying the US version. Don't know what the difference is between those two, it should be the grammer, in stead of the gameplay.
But first of all, I buy this partly because of a collectors item, and for the other part to get quick info about it. I am aware that the info can be incorrect, because it is probably based on game info that has changed over the months, during updates or so. Just like with the first Prima Guide where I've read that when an artist dies his or her paintings will be worth twice as much. Maybe this worked in the first version of The Sims 3, but as I've read somewhere on the site here, I it doesn't with the latest update.

Maybe it could be something for the guide Carl, to mention the info that is written in the Prima Guide which is incorrect compared to the game it is corresponding to. I really think this can help people out. It should be possible, even without debunking the Prima Guide. I said that last thing because maybe you could get problems with it otherwise.

Bol.com will be pretty cheap for me though, because the travel time for whatever auto transport they will use is shorter than when I will buy it from Amazone.de. That company should lie somewhere in Germany, according to the 'de' ending of the site. And although Germany is my southern neighbour and is therefore the nearest country compared to other foreign countrys, a building from the Bol.com company lies in Holland, which makes travel time shorter, and therfore cheaper.

Leto: Amazon.de is the German branch of Amazon, and they do send books for free to Holland (shipping and handling fees are here ). The approximated shipping time given is a bit longer though (1-3 weeks for shipping in Germany, probably a few days more to Holland), but I have mostly received my english sims guides from them faster than announced.

Okey! Thanks for letting me know. In the future I know now where to preorder guides. Let's hope I can wait 1 till 3 weeks. :p

Just a quick update: I ordered my guide on June 5 (last Saturday) with an approximated delivery of 1-3 weeks, and got a mail yesterday that it had shipped and should be here today, so it only took 6 days from placing the order to delivery :) . I think out of all the sims guides I had ordered from Amazon there was only one that did not get here quickly, even though they always had a rather long approximated delivery. I guess they do not have the English books on stock here in Germany but normally get them here quickly from the UK.

I bought it and it's not bad. It's very handy to have all the tables in front of me when I play. Of course, Carl will have the guides out in a few weeks and totally negate my purchase :)

So you will get the Prima Guide in English I asume?
But I thought that everything in Germany get translated to German. Like with synchronizing movies instead of working with subtitles. Same is with music. The times I am in Germany I always found it interesting to hear the music I know and used to hear in Engish, in German. :)
Non of this is meant to be negative ik, but untill now no-one could explain to me why this happens in Germany. I mostly simply don't ask, because I got the feeling I could insult the German guy's, which I won't.

Oh, there is a german version of the prima guide, too, but I prefer to play my game in english (the german translations sometimes are ... less than perfect ;) ), so I buy the english guide, too. Amazon.de has an extra section for english books which is why I order my guide there. The German language guide can be bought at pretty much every shop that sells game guides, but the english one is more rare, which is why I order it online.

TV shows and Movies are usually translated to German, and it used to be popular with some kind of music, too, but most young people today speak English. The older ones (well, pretty much everyone who went to school in the eastern part of the country before 1990) often do not know English or at least not well, because in the East they learned Russian instead of English in school as a second language back then. Do not ask me why they decided to translate everything (I think the French do it, too), but today everybody is used to it and I doubt many people would see a tv show or watch a movie if they had to watch it in another language, it is just so much more difficult if you are not used to it ;) .

Just to let you guys know: yesterday I've received an e-mail from bol.com that my order is sent. And today, about 10 minutes ago, I received the package with The Sims 3 Ambitions Prima Guide. It's in spiral bound 'so you can keep your place and keep both hands on the game' the text said on the back of the book.

As a first impression: it looks good to me. Although I am not so happy with the paper quality. I'm a bit of afraid that the paper will tear over time. So enough reason for me to be extra careful with it. The size was a surprise for me and therefore I first thought this delivery was sent to the wrong person.

I will edit here with more information about the Prima Guide, so you can consider buying it yourself.
