Sims 3 the same as Sims 3 Pets?

Just wondering if the two games are essentially the same, except with pets obviously in the latter. Trying to pick up the prima guide for the physical career charts. Only problem is, there seems to be no Pets guide for consoles. There's only a Sims 3 guide for them.

Recently picked up Pets and am loving it so far! It plays a lot like Bustin' Out, but I just had to have a Sims game on the PS3. Also reminds me of Sims 2 Pets, except without the direct control.

Yea they're pretty close with the obvious additions such as pets, new traits, new bug/insects & lizards, the inventor skill is a welcome addition too. Personally I prefer the base game (The Sims 3) for PS3 over Pets for PS3 as it runs alot smoother, looks nicer as the color in pets is awful as is the lag and framerate.

Oh very cool! Yeah I picked up Pets at Best Buy's summer blowout sale for like $5 so it was hard to pass up, but I think I'll also pick up the base as well. Appreciate the reply!

I'm kind of disappointing in the sims pets that they took away the pinball machine.  Also, I liked the synthesizer in the sims busin out because I liked the creepy music you get in the beginning when learning how to play it.  It would have made a great addition for a creepy mansion.

I'm not a big fan of the new town they did for pets, its pretty but the houses are weird. But I love all the new stuff it came with, especially the hot tubs! Wish the original had those
