I started a story about my sponsored child over a year ago. I am now interested in the apocalypse challenge (and MarianT's Restoring Similization project), so I thought it wise to combine the two. I will be playing using the two sets of rules as guidelines. I hope you read and enjoy. I will update this story at least once a week, and my regular postings will be on Sundays.

Prologue Pt. 1

Selpher wept. Living in war-torn Simya from birth, life had always been trying, but never like this. In the past weeks, her village endured violence, terror, and pain. The militants from the resurgence raided homes, leaving what few Sims remained with only the bare essentials for survival. As a refugee, Selpher faced a troubled existence. With her mother in questionable health, she knew that the family must stay in its underground shelter until further notice.

While her father and brothers gathered belongings and resources to stock the home, Selpher tended to her ill mother. She kneeled next to the bed, praying for her family’s safety above all, but Selpher’s situation soon declined into the depths of despair. As she quietly ended her plea, soldiers stormed in. They had already taken the rest of her entire family captive. Whispering to themselves in a dialect of Simyan, the two men ignored her and climbed back up the stairs. Selpher ran after the two men, wailing and begging for her beloved relatives to be released.

Nothing stopped them. Her family was gone, and Selpher wept.

Prologue Pt. 2

Once the reality of her family’s disappearance set in, Selpher began to transition into a caretaking role. Years passed, and she grew as a graceful young woman.

Her mother’s health worsened by the day; Selpher saw her slowly slipping away from this world and into another. She knew the time was coming, though she did not know when. On the only day Mary was strong enough to get out of bed, the mother rummaged around in her box of belongings and pulled out a letter. As she handed it to Selpher, she squeezed her hand and whispered, “You can do this.”



Her beloved mother, Mary, passed as the sun rose. With tears streaming down her face, Selpher opened the letter...

"The time has come for you to save your country and your people. Simya needs you."

I've decided to discontinue this story in a sense.

I will continue this story, though not in this format. I will be writing an apocalypse story with a different family, one following the rules strictly. I couldn't do that with Selpher.

When I write it, Selpher's story will be found under Miscellaneous Stories. The apocalypse/restoring similization one will be under project stories.
