"No game disc found!"
« on: May 26, 2012, 06:46:57 PM »
I just installed the Late Night expansion, but when I tried to play, it said:

"No game disc found! Please insert The Sims 3 SHOWTIME game disc before proceeding!"

I already put the Late Night disc in, but I'm not sure why they're asking for Showtime. :/ Help!

I think it's asking for Showtime because that's the most recent expansion pack you've got.
Since I only have Generations, and if I get Ambitions, if I want to play Sims 3, then I need to put the Generations disk in.
Someone please correct me if I'm wrong.

You are right. You must play from the latest released disk. So if you have generations and showtime, you use showtime.

I think she should, otherwise "No game disc found! Please insert The Sims 3 SHOWTIME game disc before proceeding!" would not have appeared.

If the original poster is willing to use mods, Twallan does have one that makes it so you don't need a disk at all.  I haven't used that particular one since I place the Steam version of the game, but in general his mods are very highly regarded as being safe and updated in a very timely manner.

This isn't really a case where mods need to be discussed.  I'm sure the original poster just didn't put the correct disk in to play.

I'm sorry if I am comming across as pro-mod.  I do understand and respect why some players might not ever want to use them.  I mentioned it here because I had a similar issue a couple of years ago.  I played Sims 3 frequently, but then either lost or broke the disk I needed to play it.  I was so bummed out about it that I simply took a long, long break from the game.  I might not have come back at all were it not for the Steam sale that got me back in.  With the Steam version one doesn't need a disk at all since it is a purely digital purchase from EA.

I agee that you are probably correct that the original poster just misplaced or accidently used the wrong disk and it would be very easy to fix just by using the right disk.  Still, I do know from my own experience that this isn't always the case.

It would have been helpful if the original poster had come back with a follow up to even just to let us know that the wrong disk was being used.

Was Showtime the first expansion you got?  My first EP/SP was Town Life Stuff, so mine always says to insert the TLS game disc

The game doesn't ask for the first disc you got.  It asks for the most recent disc that has been released.
