Easy way to catch a burglar!

I haven't seen this way mentioned yet and didn't see any current thread dealing with this. If you have a home with only one exterior door you can make your Sim stand in front of the door to keep the burglar in until the cops arrive. I have done this and it worked perfectly. I don't know if there is a way to do this with more than one exterior door if there is only one Sim but I am sure someone will know something I don't.

Will it work if you lock the door too? I know if you lock it to everyone but your household it keeps neighbours out, but not ghosts!

Nope, doesn't work when you lock the doors.  They are sneaky little burglars! (I guess that is why they call them burglars) lol

That stinks! I tried an underground house to get away with not paying bills (actually I forgot lol) and the repo-man teleported down and stole my laundry equipment! Probably burglars would too!

Their laser took stuff through walls in Sims 2 but I have never had the RepoDude in Sims 3 I am glad to say, there was something about they always take the same thing if you put it back in Sims 2, like they took a painting, I bought it again and he took the same thing!

Lol, I've only had him that one time. I was doing a ton of stuff and must have missed the notice because the next thing I knew, it said he was coming! I felt really bad cause I never forget my bills in real life, don't know how I did it in a game!

I am always forgetting them, I do not know why.  Maybe I have a phobia about bills, so when I am able, I just get the "no bills forever" happiness wish to solve that one, lol.

Lol maybe that's what happened! I had a phobia that day! I always try to get that LTR first too, just slipped my mind that day!

On the topic of the 'no bills forever' LTR, does every adult in the house have to buy it to work? I tried it before Ambitions (I think it was before) and I still got bills.

No, only 1 has to have it.

I've done the standing in the doorway thing but it can be hard to pull off because they keep moving to do the 'burglar!' interaction. You have to keep them pacing around the doorway until the police arrives

Thanks. Maybe it was a glitch in the game before a patch or an SP/EP was released. I'll have to try it again before my bills get really out of hand.

If the bills are already in route you will still get one but then that is it. Like if you purchase the No Bills Ever close to the time you are supposed to get a bill you will still get one. I don't know how soon before you bills you would have to get it to not get a bill.
