Help needed installing custom content

Hi! I'm new here and I'm just wondering if you can teach me how to install custom content on my Sims 3 (and please explain it to me like I'm a 3 year old because I'm not good in computers). I really want to install new cars on my game. Please respond, thanks. Can you also tell me how to post and start a new topic on the forum? I'm having a hard time finding out how to post a new topic. Thanks again.

Firstly, to post a new topic, you click on the link to the board that you want to post in: this post is on the babble board, but since you need help with installing custom content a moderator will move it to the technical help board, I think.  At the top right hand side of the list of topics, there is a green button that says 'new topic'. Click that button and then you can type your message.

Secondly, there are two types of files that you can download custom content as. Where are you getting your custom content (CC) from? If you download a sims3pack, all you need to do is open the folder that you save it in, and double click the file. It should have a little sims icon. The sims 3 launcher will open and install the item - simple as that.

If you downloaded a .package file, then you need to put it in My Documents/Electronic Arts/The Sims 3/Mods/Packages. If you need further help with how to install .package files, there is a good tutorial on modthesims, here.

Welcome to the forum cino03. To answer your second question, just do what you did to start this topic. Just be sure to look for the most appropriate board (I'll move this thread in a minute to the correct board) Also, please try to make the topic subject clear enough so that people know what it is about, don't just put Please Help, as this is very vague and doesn't tell people what you need help with.

Do you need any other programs to download C.C? I have heard you need framework or helper monkey, is this true or unnecessary?

This forum doesn't actually allow talk about third party CC only.  We allow talk about game modifications but third party CC is still supposed to be done in private.   Please make sure to read the forum rules closely that are in my signature.
