Hunger Games-style tombrooms
« on: July 17, 2012, 08:48:38 PM »
Hi everyone,

So, turns out the CAW world is really fun. And I've had an idea for the next world I want to create. It's completely different to the one I'm working on at the moment, and I would need help with it. I've never created a WA tomb, haven't used any of the effects emmitters or anything, and am not very good at setting logical puzzles/traps. But, here is a wonderful, creative community who has many skills! So, would anyone be interested in making a tombroom, Hunger-Games-style? Or maybe even more than one?

Please note - I'm not asking anyone to go and do this right away - I want to finish the first world first, so it'll be a couple of weeks at least before I can start planning properly, and will probably be more like mid/end of August before this can realisticly come together. I'm just... floating the idea :)

What exactly do you have in mind by that? As in the Arena, or the area when the contestants go up?
I'm afraid that I personally won't be able to help, but I am very interested in this. Maybe I could provide inspiration for whoever does take it up?

I don't want to give too much away just yet, until I've figured how this could work, but yes, I was thinking Arena-style traps :)

Would you like them to be deadly as if you really are in the arena or just for show. If it is just for show it could easily be the WA traps because they aren't usually deadly, or if you are using Ambitions you could use the debug fog machine (I apologize the name escapes me at the moment) and have so that if you walk on the wrong ground (or if the gamekeepers want you gone) A bunch of fire would appear behind you.

Making the arena really and truly deadly would be hard, considering the fire doesn't spread. But the Darts would be good tracker jackers. Too bad there are no nightloc. (sp?) *devil smile*

I think the WA traps are pretty deadly - there are mummies, fire, electrical traps, and if there's no grocery store, and you're hungry, and a dart knocks you out, it could be too late to find food.... I don't want Sims to die unnaturally, and they certainly wouldn't kill each other, this is more about playing a more 'difficult' Sims3 - food and money don't just fall off trees (or appear in shops), and there are dangerous puzzles to explore!

Oh, the WA wall and floor traps aren't all that deadly with resources, but they don't have resources! Maybe I could join you with this, I can't provide anything directly, but I love the books and I think I can help you! I'll PM you.
