Playing Multiple Households?

How do I play multiple households? For instance, if my family has a child and that child grows up and moves out, I know I have the option to make that the active household, but how do I come back and play that family again later?  Also, is it impossible to have multiple families that I create interact in the same world at the same time? Or can I only play one family in each saved game?

After switching households to the child, you can go into Edit Town, click on your other family's house, and select 'Make Active Household.'

You can make more than one family in the same town, but you can only control one of them at a time.

You can switch active households in Edit Town mode.  But if you have Story Progression on, keep in mind that when you go back to your original household, things may not be just as you left them.  I once had a level 10 chef that I left alone for a while, and when I went back to check on him, he was only level 5!  Not sure how that happened.

And you can move in as many different families to a town as you want.  You can only control one at a time, though.

Edit:  Audren, you beat me to it!  ;)
