How to set up for chess?

Hey everyone.  Quick question.  How do I set up the chess table?  What type of chairs do I need?  Thank you in advance.

Any kind of dining chair. Not couches though, (I wish). You can have only 1 chair if you like, just make sure it's facing the end that the chess table faces. You know the arrow that lights up when you're moving the chess table? Make sure the chair is on the side the arrow's pointing to. Having 2 chairs is easier though.

In addition to what pallyndrome said, you have to use the outdoor chess table for chess tournaments.  It has the timer on it that the regular indoor table doesn't have.  If your Sim has a wish to defeat a ranked chess opponent, you need to use the cell phone to call the next contender.  Then when that Sim arrives, invite him into the house and click on the outdoor chess table to start the tournament.

I didn't know that about the tables. I wondered what was the difference between indoor and outdoor chess tables.

It has worked for me before to use the indoors chess set for ranked matches. I'm actually doing it right now in my family that is doing the Babyboomer challenge. One of the girls has played about 10 ranked chess matches on the indoors chess table and it has been affecting her ranking in the logic skill journal too.

That has to be something new that has been changed, then. When the game was first released, you had to use the outdoor table with the timer on it for ranked chess matches.

Me too, I have only used the indoor one for ranked tourneys, to be honest, I did not know they had an outdoor one.  I thought they all had timers.  Shows ya how much I know. lol

It's as it sounds like: If you have a sim with high logic skill you can have him/her take on others around the neighbourhood in a game of chess.

You must become the "grand master" of the tournament to fulfill the Chess Legend lifetime wish. Carl has a good article about the tournament in the Guide.

You don't need a high level of logic for chess tournaments.  I've had Sims with those wishes as early as level 2 and 3.  Usually it's the genuises who want it that early.

Oh well, yeah; it isn't impossible for low-level logic sims.
What I meant to say was that you'd need high level logic to have a decent chance of winning the tournament.

I'm going to try having a ranked chess match on an indoor table. It's been months since I tried it and it wouldn't work. Time to update my personal research.
