Sims passing out for no apparent reason!
« on: June 14, 2010, 02:00:42 PM »
Recently (I think since I installed ambitions but I'm not 100% sure) I've had 3 sims (all in different games) pass out for no reason, with reasonably full mood bars and no negative moodlets.

On all 3 occasions I looked for some indicator of why they would pass out, but each time they have been in the middle of a mundane, harmless task with nothing negative going on. One sim was washing his hands, another was watching tv, not sure about the third. Each one stopped what they were doing and had an action that said 'pass out' when I cursored over it. I couldn't cancel the action, I just had to wait for them to pass out and then wake them up.

Anyone know why this is happening?

The one thing that crossed my mind was whether you have a high free will enabled and the sims in question have the dramatic trait.

Thanks for the quick response Swede!

Free will was on high, I can't remember the traits for the earlier two fainters but the most recent one was my political traiter sim so I know for definite that she wasn't dramatic.

Do any of your Sims have the No Sense of Humor trait? They can make Sims pass out by boring them.

No, the 3 sims that it happened to are challenge-related so none of them had negative traits at all. I've checked what their traits were and looked them up in Carl's guide and the Prima guide to double check but it's definitely nothing to do with traits.

One was a loner, bookworm, handy, liked the outdoors and ambitious, and he was perfectly happy when it happened. The other two are for open challenges so I won't list their traits but I'm pretty sure they wouldn't cause them to pass out.

Thanks for the help guys!

I've  had a sim pass out too. It's not just since Ambitions, because for me it was when I was playing around getting ready for the crazy 8 challenge and testing a few things. If I remember correctly, she had just finished work and was just about to catch a bug near the theater when for no apparent reason she was laid out on the ground. I don't recall seeing anything about passing out, but I do know she was not hungry or overly tired. Can't recall what her traits were, but like lianne's sim, she had no negative traits and I don't think I've ever selected dramatic.

I haven't had the passing out, but since Ambitions released, I've noticed a lot more yawning in town.  Not from my Sim, but from the others around town when she talks to them.  She does not have the No Sense of Humor trait.  Maybe there's a bug somewhere that's causing it.

If your sim is employed in the medical career, and took a pill that might be the reason. But I'm pretty much sure you would have said that you took it, so it's not this.

And sneezing.  I've never had my Sims sneeze before.

Mine have sneezed for a long time.  They've even had sneezing fits of 4 or 5 in a row.  It was hilarious!

I don't know, but they do it every single time!  I guess EA thought it was a cute animation.  ;D

I had this issue as well just last night. My female sim was in the kitchen and her mood was fine and her needs were all in the green. The all of a sudden BAM, she hits the floor, is knocked out for a few minutes, then hops back up like nothing happened. I laughed at it though. I don't think it affected anything.
