Yikes! There's been an error with my sense of sight and calculation. I must have seen the Poll with Anushka in the lead and hadn't realised it was yet to finish, I did check on the last day of voting but there must have been a last minute vote for Decima! We have a tie! I'll PM Decima now to get that Joint-Winning statement! Sorry Decima! (Thanks to Rica for spotting this!)

Building Contest 2012: 10 - Storybook Style  - May 18, 2012 - May 31, 2012
    Anushka and Decima!

Congratulations Anushka and Decima! It was a tie for first place! Both entries looks like it just leapt out from the pages of a storybook, well done on such a fantastic representation of both Stories - I'm sure we can all see which stories they are from! You can see Anushka's Entry here and download it here. You can also find Decima's Entry here and download it here.

Anushka's Comment:

"My first victory! I really didn't expect this, as I know how many great builders there are and many have a great talent in building fairytale style houses. When I read the contest rules, I knew I wanted to built a Cottage for Snow White and Seven Dwarves  . I had a great fun building it, but didn't have enough time to work on the interior as I wanted it - my PC was scheduled for a service maintainance that week. It turns out that it worked like this and on half of the budget available even better and more suitable for mostly male house in the time without electricity.  I'm very honored to be a part of the such a great building community, thank you for this fun competition and everyone that voted for my submission! Congratulations Decima, it's an honour to share the glory with you!"

Decima's Comment:

"Thank you everyone who voted, and well done to Anushka! I laughed out loud when I saw the gnome dwarfs! What a brilliant idea!

I had completely written off my entry once I saw the others and didn't even check the thread to see how the voting had gone! I liked all of the entries and think we all did a great job. Big thanks to everyone who takes part in the contests, everyone who votes and lilygirl and samoht for running them."

Congratulations Anushka and Decima! The thread is now open for comments!  :D

Ladybug - I really liked your planting! I think you have a talent for it, I've seen your planting elsewhere, I think it was a house in the swapshop where it was also brilliant! Also having the wolf up at the window, brilliant!

I thought Ausette's was going to win, it was brilliant! The house is so pretty and the characters were just so good. Their expressions showed the story perfectly.

Anyone know which story Wai's was? It was the only one I didn't get. Which was a shame because the buildings were great, you can see that a lot of work went into them.

Congratulations Anushka and Decima! I absolutely loved both your builds. Decima, the concept of an underwater house is fantastic, and I really liked the colours and patterns you used to make the nautical theme. Anushka, there was not a single thing about your build I didn't love. The landscaping is exquisite, the patterns are inviting, and the seven gnomes/shovels/beds had me physically giggling with delight  ;D. I also really liked all the little shelves and storage places you had dotted around the build, they made the house feel so much more homey and realistic.

I'm always open for comments.  :)

I loved how bright and warm your entry felt. The yellow siding, red shutters and Hidden Springs green grass look so lovely together. And I know it wasn't part of the build itself, but I adore the picture of the wolf.  :)

I thought Ausette's was going to win, it was brilliant! The house is so pretty and the characters were just so good. Their expressions showed the story perfectly.

Thank you Decima  ;D! I was a little worried about the modern broom, lol.

Anyone know which story Wai's was? It was the only one I didn't get. Which was a shame because the buildings were great, you can see that a lot of work went into them.

That balcony makes me think Romeo and Juliet? I'm guessing the building on the left is the Capulets' house, the building on the right is for the Montagues, and the building in the middle is the crypt.

Congratulations to all the entrants and especially to Anushka and Decima!  There was absolutely no doubt in my mind who those houses were built for!

I had so wanted to do this contest and had two concepts in mind.  First was to do Ariel using the Pier in Union Cove and the was Alice in Wonderland.  Some day I will have a pc that doesn't frustrate me and I'll do it.  Meanwhile, I can enjoy a home for Ariel with the great job Decima did.  I just love it!

Ana, Snow White is one of my all time favorites so to see such a difficult, to my mind anyway, build come to life with such loveliness just touched my heart.  You see, my kid looks like a living, breathing Snow White, and I could just imagine her in that little house.  To put the frosting on the cake was the presence of all those darling gnomes!  And the little lanterns and shovels!

Ausette your version of Cinderella was priceless!  Those wicked stepsisters and the mother were just too funny!  You made the mansion just right for a hard working Cindy to live in.  The minute I saw the pumpkins in the garden I knew whose house this must be.

Ladybug Grandmother must have really loved her darling home before that wicked old wolf showed up!  It was perfect!  I'm glad she and Red got to have a nice picnic after wolfie was gone.

Rapunzel's Tower was wonderful as well as was Romeo and Juliet's mansions.  That famous balcony!

Kudos to all you great and imaginative builders.

What?  Grannies can't play games?
I speak perfect Nooblik, (and some Simlish)!

Thanks again for all the great comments about my submission, and congratulation to Decima!
I'm sorry for not writing earlier, I have a lot of things going on, plus I find the source for my cheesy smile all day long and am addicted to it now. ;D

About my own built - more I look at it more I see what I could do but time is an issue with me all the time, and I was very close to miss submitting this one as many before. I'm glad to hear you all got cought up with those little hints and details that made me giggle too - showels and gnomes ;D

Wai - I loved that you managed to create a whole neighborhood on one lot, and it looked awesome as it was authentic. Seing your submission made me inspired to try it myself!Looking forward to your future builds!
Catarra - You submitted such an interesting and appealing home, I could see the drama surrounding the Tower and it was just as I would imagined - inside is very warm and girly suitable for the princess but she is still sad being in prisoned there! Very thought trough and beautiful submission.

Ausette, I had no doubt in story you were inspired by and I could imagine it there, I may specially like the landscape and was wondering how you made that basement authentic. Awesome as usually!

Ladybug - I laughed at that wolf, and I loved the house, as it was already said, colors itself made it look "fairytalish" and I loved your landscape too!

Decima - I have a soft spot for watery landscape and for Ariel - so you got me with both. I specially liked the way all the rooms seemed so bright and inviting, even if underground/underwater! Wonderfull submission and looking forward to future ones.

I was hoping to see what would Joria, Agneza, Samoht, Danefaith and Micler build, to name a few that I know are capable of creating a masterpiece in this theme, but I hope you'll share yours in Swap Shop at least as well as everyone else who like to build, as I can't get enough of fairytale styled homes ;D
