Connecting Dirt Roads
« on: April 21, 2012, 03:44:01 PM »
I've found this tutorial for connecting roads with intersections on youtube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ztQD4V-gpxY&feature=related

However, my problem stems from the fact that I'm using the dirt roads instead of the default road.  The dirt ones don't seem to "snap" together like the default road does.  Does anyone have any tips as to what I can do, other than not use intersections?

Mandamouse, I spent a lot of time looking for a solution, and couldn't find any. It seems that everyone are dealing with the same issue and only thing beside not using intersections is masking them - with heather, ranch weed, or something else you find fitting for your world. I read somewhere that only EA default roads are connecting properly and from my experience, that is true - I only managed to get perfect squares with roads from worlds made by EA.

Anushka, thanks for the reply!  I had forgotten I had posted this.  I fiddled around with the dirt roads a while, and eventually figured out that if you move the road about an inch or so (you know, relatively) away from the already placed intersection it would snap into place when you let go of the road.  It doesn't work as well as the regular roads, which snap without letting go-- I wonder why?

Thanks for taking the time to try to figure it out!

hi there,
well the thing is all roads work the same way, but dirt roads don't always looks great. try this tutorial
http://krrank.blogspot.com/2011/12/tiptorial-roads.html
And another trick is when your done making the roads, use terrain paint of the same color and spray over the intersection to hide any blanks. I hope this helps.
