Dinner table discussion in the Sims 3
« on: May 16, 2010, 05:37:31 PM »
Dear Carl and forum,

Is dinner table discussion in the Sims 3 glitched?  They don't seem to move on to the next topic even if I queue them up and they do not stay long at the table.  What have others found?  Is there a guide about how to use dinner table discussion more effectively for story or relationship building?

I've noticed that, too.  Unfortunately, I don't have an answer on how to make it better.

I don't know if this really helps, but in my game sims are sitting longer around the table if there are more than two sims in total sitting there and when they have nothing to do after that. Besides that, it looks like they will sitting longer when they are in a good mood. Hope this helps.

Mine do not sit very long either and it does not take them long to eat.  In sims2, they would sit at the table forever and talk and talk.  I thought that was so cool.  I even tell a couple of sims to sit at the table and they sit for about two seconds and then get up and go about their business.  Oh well, they are just busy little guys.
Is it true that cannibals don't eat clowns because they taste funny?

I have found dinner table discussion a good way to improve family relationships! Especially if it's a legacy and the heir is a great cook, nothing like good food and good chat that get's a sim's mood up!  ;) I mainly let them get on with what discussions they 'discuss'  :)

It has to be glitch/bug, I once placed 2 sims by the table with free will at full and well... after I made them talk they just talked and talked, mind to say energy, bladder, hunger and hygiene were close to max that time on both of them. They stopped only when one of them really had to take a bathroom break and of course they didn't move on to the next topic. Like samoht04 said, it's actually quite good and easy way to make friends/improve relations but... you know.

Thanks for all the ideas guys.  I hope EA does tweak it for the better sometime.

Cheers
