Pregnancy books?
« on: May 09, 2012, 03:31:13 PM »
Hi
I've seen my pregnant Sims wish to read pregnancy books but I can't find any? Are they in the kids section on the book store?
Thanks

You don't need to go to the bookstore, one of the bookcases next to the computers on the far left of the library has pregnancy books.

They're also in the 'general' section of the bookstore, or if you buy a bookcase, there's sometimes a pregnancy book already in there.

In Sunset Valley, I find the pregnancy books upstairs, at about the middle of the back wall.

One of them is called Baby Incoming: Prepare with Vigilance, I think. I can't remember the other one though.

The other is Totally Preggers: An Expecting Mother's Tale.

And random question, with a second or third pregnancy, do you need to reread the books in order to have a successful pregnancy?

No, you don't need to read the books for a successful pregnancy. You need to keep their mood up in the elated section. However, if they have a wish to read a book, then fulfilling that wish will help keep their mood up. There is a third book that you can get it the medical profession that looks like a pregnancy book, but it doesn't count. I tried it lol.

In my experience, the key to having a successful pregnancy is never letting the mother's energy bar get below green.  If it even gets to the yellow while she's pregnant, you won't get to choose both traits.

I've had a mishap with the moodlet manager and despite doing everything like the spa, backrubs, pregnancy books and going for medical advice I still was only allowed to pick one trait - I'm guessing simply from that error with the moodlet manager which caused her Energy bar to deplete.

Cheers, that's good to know. (I'm a bit suspicious of the moodlet manger anyway; got it recently, used it twice, both times it made the target pass out on the spot with a depleted energy bar. Psh.)

I've had pregnant sims have yellow in their energy bar, and I've still been able to choose both traits. Somehow, every time I have a sim pregnant, I always get to choose the two traits.

In my dynasty, my founder's spouse's bar went yellow ONCE and then boom, one of the babies traits was picked. Luckily, it was Loves The Outdoors which I wanted anyway. 8)

I'm pretty good at pregnancies. I have them constantly watching TV and having a fire so they feel warm etc. Normally works for me :P

I just let them read the pregnancy books, wished or not, then I let them watch T.V. Let them take care of their garden if they have one. And let them eat and so on. For me pregnancy doesn't make a difference for me on the Sims. I just take them to the spa and that's all.  ;)
