Sims 3 for Mac
« on: April 14, 2012, 11:51:26 AM »
I recently joined this forum and have loved it so far. As a sims fanatic, I want to know what people think about the Sims 3 game for Mac. What problems have occurred? How is it different from the PC version? Also, what are some general tips? I plan to get the game this week, and want to be prepared before I start playing.

I don't have a Mac. But, for info on how to play, read the guide provided on this site. Depending on what game you buy and what your interests are, this site is LOADED with info.

Be prepared to patch and buy expansions a few days after everyone else. That's my best advice. I own a mac and for me the best bet is to wait until the patches are out so you can install all at once. The next thing is to backup often. Also, make sure to check the system requirements. EA tends to flip flop on those for a Mac.

Just know some people here got serious problem with playing Sims 3 once upgraded the OS from Snow Leopard to Lion.
However, EA seems to no response to this problem.
P.S. I'm still using Snow Leopard.
Now I realize playing the Sims 3 on Mac is playing the game of installation and uninstallation...

I am playing on a Mac with Lion installed. I haven't had any problems so far, and though I don't have a PC as well (to compare the two), the advice given for the different aspects of the game seems to work for me. Sometimes in a tech related thread I've noticed people are kind enough to write, "If you're playing on a Mac you'll need to do this instead of that," etc. There is a section for Mac users in the Forum's site map, if I remember correctly.
