Missing Romantic Interactions Button

So as some of you already know, I'm trying to get some blue back in my Dynasty.  So I have had my Founder, Alpha, have 15 children with various townies.  Now Alpha's great-grandson would like to marry one of Alpha's kids, who happens to be pretty and blue.  There is no marked relation between Delta and the blue girl in question, so there shouldn't be a problem.  Well, apparently there IS because there's no button to have romantic interactions with her.

I know other people have had this problem before, but I don't remember if anyone had a solution?  Anyone know what I can do so Delta can marry the blue girl of his dreams??

Are you sure the blue girl is old enough?  I'm just wondering if the reason there's no option to have romantic interactions is because she's still a teenager.

Nope, she's a young adult.  And he just aged up to Adult.

Yeah, it was probably a silly question.  I just asked because one time I couldn't figure out why my Sim couldn't do romantic interactions, and it turned out the other one was a teenager.   But if that's not the case here, it's a mystery to me.  The only other thing that would make sense to me is because they're related, but you're sure that's not the case?  I don't know how close a relationship has to be before Sims are prohibited from doing romantic interactions.

Maybe I'm wrong, but I thought they had to at least have a little symbol in their picture that notes their familial status.  In this case, there is no symbol, just as if they were any other sort of friends.

I just had the thought to try with one of Alpha's other kids, and same thing, no romantic button, so maybe it is because of the distant relation.  If so, then I'm totally bummed!

It's got to be that, Aria. I mean they are directly related by blood. And I wouldn't even call it distant. When I think of distant relatives I think cousins, 2nd cousins, nieces, nephews, that kind of thing. Here you're talking about Alpha's own child wanting to marry Alpha's great-grandson. It's distant — generation-wise, but not blood-wise.

The game doesn't always identify a distant family member.  I was able to marry relatives one time and I think they were the child and grandchild of sisters.  I think Metro's right about the blood not being distant enough.  The children of Alpha's many kids might be able to marry into the family in the next generation.

It's frustrating because it seems like only the non-blue sims procreate.  And THAT won't do me any good!
