WA Bugs?
« on: August 15, 2010, 01:44:57 AM »
I only have the base game and Ambitions, yet one time my sim was able to sign up for the photographing self-employed career, and another time my sim clipped a coupon and it was a recipe book for Frog Legs. Of course it wasn't there, so I had to throw away a coupon. :( Is there any reason this bug is going on?

Well, that's quite odd.  I thought maybe the coupon program in the game just generates random things and doesn't sort out the expansion pack items.  But the photography career definitely sounds like a bug.

Did they perhaps buy a camera from the consignment store?
Having all the EP's I don't know, but if you just have Ambitions, what sort of things turn up at the consignment store? Do items from WA show up there, or do you have to have the EP to actually unlock them?

No, they had no camera, only 1 point in painting. That's the only two things so far, but surely there will be more bugs.

Maybe the coupon thing and the photo career is dropping hints about WA and trying to make me buy it, just like that other game- argh forgot what it's called-where the monsters drop coupons instead of items to make you get the full version of the game. I know it's an EA game...Anyways I don't know.

...and last night I got ANOTHER bug. My sim married someone, moved in, and the new sim was reading a book on mummies. Have no idea where he got it. Luckily, it was a legacy so I sold it for a nice $500. :D

I'm encountering a terrible bug in Egypt!  I think it's a problem with the queue.  Many times, when I queue up something for my Sims, it just disappears without being completed.  They can't introduce themselves to anyone new, but they can have one interaction with someone they know.  Once the interaction is complete, my Sim "jumps" to a spot away from the person she was talking to and everything else is cancelled.  It sort of looks like a reset.  I also cannot click on anything inside a tomb.  No gear pointer at all.  Just nothing; no interactions pop up at all.  It's really ruining my trip to Egypt, but the main purpose of the trip was to get the teens skilled up enough to achieve their Lifetime Wishes, which has happened.  It's just a shame, though, because there are a couple of teenage boys they could get to know and maybe bring home to marry.  But they can't even meet them.

Oh, also, when I hired a maid for the vacation home, he stayed forever.  I kept having to reset him to get him out of the house, so I just cancelled the maid service.  And I had a party last for over 12 hours!  It started at 11:30 a.m. and didn't stop until 1:00 a.m. the next morning with all of my Sims in bed!

Strange happenings in Egypt, for sure.  I hope they stop when they go back home!

Now, that sounds like a really epic party!  Just had to say that  ::).  I have nothing useful to add but I certainly hope the problems clear up for you.

And ironically, the party was mediocre.  She didn't even get the great party moodlet from it.  Lol!

They seem to be back to normal now that they're home again.

Interesting...

If you plan on going to Egypt again, make the stay long enough so they could do EVERYTHING there so you never/only need 1 more trip/none.

Pam, I've had that problem before with the inability to interact with others and/or other objects in tombs.  If I'm remembering right, I think it was due to a bugged item in my inventory.  Maybe seeds or produce or fish?  Once I got rid of whatever it was I was able to proceed normally with my adventures.
