This is the cafeteria where Smuggsworth Prep will prepare your kids' tastebuds for exotic cuisine.
This is the Art Class. It focuses on the development of the Painting skill, but the drafting tables allow for fashion and architecture research, as well. This class can hold six students. The decorations in the middle of the class can be changed out to bring in new scenes of inspiration.

Playtime and fresh air are also important to Smuggsworth Prep. Students have access to a large playground in the back yard of Smuggsworth Prep. There is also a picnic area for visiting families.

Looks like I'll miss out on entering this competition too :'(

We also have a gym area with showers to help reduce stress and encourage good health.

Ashel Veh!
Congratulations Ashel Veh! What a way to join the forum by winning the Building Contest, that and with such an amazing boarding school! Ashel Veh's Comment:
"Thank you to everyone who participated - whether it was in creating the contest or in entering the contest - your efforts are greatly appreciated. I was both shocked and thrilled that so many people liked my work. You have no idea how much that means to me. I even did my own little "happy dance!"
I was asked what I liked about my entry, which makes me feel a trifle immodest and thus uncomfortable, but I think the favorite part of my build was the pool area. I love that pool! Quite frankly, if I could transfer that pool from my computer screen to my backyard we wouldn't be having this conversation because I would be out by the pool and you would never be able to pry me away from it!! ;)
Once again, thank you so much!"
Congratulations Ashel Veh! :D The Thread is now open for Comments!
-
@Catarra: I think you did a great job on this one except for their being a lack of landscaping in my opinion.
@Ratchie: Same with Catarra, I think it needed more greenery. Pine trees? But I loved how it was in the cliffs. Very unique.
@Ashel: No critique here, I think you did an absolutely wonderful job on everything! Congrats! :)

Girl's gotta make an entrance! ;)
@Ashel: No critique here, I think you did an absolutely wonderful job on everything! Congrats! :)
Thank you! I'm personally not particularly happy with the bandstand, but after rebuilding it three or four times I finally decided that it would have to do - that and I was running out of time.
@Catarra: I think that the front entryway leading to the door is absolutely stunning and awe inspiring! I also found your overall palette selection to be very soothing. And that library looks like a place that I would absolutely love to curl up in (right next to that fireplace) and read for a few hours! (Alright, alright - days!) If you don't mind, I'm taking it with me. You may not get it back. Sorry!!
@ratchie: I found the overall exterior of you building very majestic and a teensy bit intimidating, which strikes me as perfect for a military academy. I thought the inclusion of a nursery for the use of visiting parents was a clever idea. I can see many a visiting parent really appreciating not having to wrangle a toddler while touring the school! I also liked the gym you set up. Despite its location in a military school it came out light, airy, and inviting. It looks like a good place to exercise "by yourself" without actually having to be alone!
-
Thanks everyone for the votes and comments, and for awsome work, Ratchie and Ashel!
@Zapkid: I am not much of a landscaper, so I went for simplicity. But I do agree, I could have done more.
@Ratchie: I loved the terrain! I could never have pulled that off. I am a very flat terrain kind of person. I really enjoyed your build! I wouldn't change a thing. :)
@Ashel: You definitely deserved to win. You put A LOT of work in to your build, and it paid off. I agree that your pool area is divine, but I also liked your bandstand. I think my favorite part is the garden walkways. They look tranquil and lovely. And if the money trees would never go unharvested. ;)
-
To each and every one of you, what a great job you all did! There was always something wonderful in each one so it was hard for me to choose.
Ashel, bravo! You truly deserved the win. Lovely building, lovely grounds and that pool was perfection.
-
Ashel, how long did it take you to make that? It is incredibly beautiful and very detailed. When I first saw it I figured it must've taken days.
-

Thank you so much! As for the garden walkway that is what I was going for. I put them in because I thought that the students and staff would desire a quiet place to gather, talk, relax, etc. As for the money trees and other growing plants I included them because there is actually a photo collection for plants and many of the harvestable plants are included in it. I thought a boarding school would have as much as possible towards advancing there students skills. If you download the build and look around inside and outside there should be quite a number of items that will allow the students to work towards certain photo collections. I don't think that I actually allowed for completion of any of them, but then your education is never really complete.
To each and every one of you, what a great job you all did! There was always something wonderful in each one so it was hard for me to choose.
Ashel, bravo! You truly deserved the win. Lovely building, lovely grounds and that pool was perfection.
Thank you, Joria! I thought it was lovely too, but then I'm a bit biased! :D
Ashel, how long did it take you to make that? It is incredibly beautiful and very detailed. When I first saw it I figured it must've taken days.
Days, no. Weeks, yes. I worked on it almost everyday for at least three weeks. I started shortly after the start time and wrapped it up on the 27th! I was constantly afraid that I wouldn't be able to get it finished on time!
-
First of all thank you for everyone that voted for me it really does mean a lot.
Catarra:I loved the elegance of your build I could imagine very rich Sims/celebs sending their children to your stunning prep school. I loved the way the rooms flowed into one another to create a relaxing atmosphere in which to learn.
Ashel Vel: Your build is stunning. The hours of work you put into it is shown in every single detail. I love everything about it. Although my personal favorite part is the cafeteria, mostly because it looks exactly like the student cafeteria at my old collage and it brought back memories of going there back in 1993.
Ratchie:I agree with what others have said about the lack of plants and landscaping. I just couldn't figure out where to put it. I wanted the outside to be stern and fortress like so felt that a tree or three might look out of place. Then I had an idea to create a rooftop or basement garden area but couldn't work out how to do it. I only figured out how to add my own roof a few months ago.
