Title: Lemon trees must be sterile!?
Post by: sixx on July 20, 2015, 11:09:51 AM
I bought a Lemon, Pomegranate and a Pear tree some 5 (sim) weeks ago. They will NOT bear fruit! Am I missing something here? my skill is maxed. I have fertilized, evolved and even talked to them. I do have aging off, but  all my other plants,  even other worldly bear fruit with no problem. >:(
TIA

I'm confused - where did you buy them from?

Have you tried harvesting another lemon tree and planting it or taking a cutting and grafting on to another plant?

Sorry, I downloaded a town center retail lot. One of the shops sells all the plant types. The others have all produced fruit except for the ones I mentioned. I have gone to neighborhoods that have lemon trees many times, and none will seem to bear fruit! I have no mods. So, I as well am confused.
Thanks

Only plants in the neighborhood you are actively in will be growing.  Plants in other neighborhoods don't grow while you have no Sims there.  It would take a long time visiting another neighborhood to get the plants there to grow fruit.  It is much easier to have a Sim with level five or higher gardening skill go to another neighborhood and take a cutting from a plant, which can then be grafted on to a plant at home.  This is the method most people use.  You will still have to spend several Sim hours in this neighborhood for the plant to grow large enough to take a cutting, but far fewer than waiting for the fruit would take.

Hi six, welcome to the forum.
When you hover your mouse over a wild plant there is an option for your sim to dispose of the wild plant. (i.e. a lemon tree growing anywhere that is NOT your home lot). If you dispose of a wild plant and then hang around that neighbourhood for some hours then the wild plant will regrow. If you go to Carl's gardening guide page (http://www.carls-sims-4-guide.com/skills/gardening/) and scroll down you'll see a table that tells you how long each plant takes to grow so you'll know how long you need to wait in the neighbourhood for that particular world plant to grow back.
The only other thing I can think of is maybe you have some CC that is causing the issue although you've said you have no mods. Obviously there are no pomegranate trees in the wild so if disposing a wild lemon tree makes it grow back and grow fruit then you might just have to delete your home trees and get the plants you are missing by grafting or fishing up a pomegranate. etc.

*edited opps I read your post wrong and thought the wild plants were not growing fruit... never mind, one of those days!  ::)
