Title: Firefighting gets in the way of my sim's LTW
Post by: jmz95 on July 26, 2010, 01:56:56 PM
One of my sims has the lifetime wish to become a grand chess master. However, her next opponent is in the firefighting career. Why is this a problem? NPCs in the firefighter profession don't seem to want to leave the station until 2 AM (when she tells me to call her back) and when I call her at 2 AM, she says "Don't you think it's a little late? Try calling me back in the morning." Right now, it doesn't seem as if I'll ever complete this wish, and it's for a legacy where I do care about points. She is an elder and should be at about the same age as my founder (92 days at the moment) so she should die soon, but my heiress is two days away from being a fully mature adult and I like to complete their wish early so I can focus on other stuff. Does anyone have any suggestions? I've thought about forcing the NPC to age up, which would make her die and allow me to face the next opponent, but I'm not sure if that's permitted by the rules since it's technically using cheats. I need help before I move too much further along in my legacy. Also, if you're going to say "Just age her up using cheats. It doesn't matter as long as it's for the story and it's your game." Well, it is my game and I choose to follow the rules to the book unless it's an exception that might as well have been made by Pinstar (and he hasn't even had the decency to update the rules for the EPs which he did for his sims 2 challenge). Thanks!

Maybe you could see if you can hold the match at the station?

Good idea. Is there a chess table at the fire station? My file is in SV if that helps. I know the fire station in Twinbrook is different from the one in the lot folder for when you put one in SV or Riverview.

EDIT: Just checked, there is no chess table at the SV fire station.

Hmmm, maybe try getting friends with the person enough to be ask to stay the night at their house but they probably won't have a table either, have you tried manually inviting them over? If not start a fire in the firestation!  ;D

You could try throwing a party with the Legendary Host Lifetime Reward.  With that reward, everyone invited to a party is supposed to attend regardless of job or school schedules.  That could at least get the firefighter onto your lot and then you could challenge the chess match.

I have tried going over to the fire station to invite her over, and even used my founder to call her up but I always get the same result. I'll use the Host reward and see if that helps. It'll be a 1 guest house party!  ;D

EDIT: It worked. She came to the house and I promptly beat her. She even said it was an amazing party!

Pam, that was a really creative solution. Nicely done. It was one of those things where I went — "man I wish I had suggested that!"  :D

Great!  I'm so glad it worked.  And thank you, Metro.  :)

Yeah I never would have thought of it, I figured I would have to wait until she died. That's one of the reasons I love this forum: so many people available and willing to help out and there's almost always someone online (at least when I am there is).
