Title: New Store World - Sunlit Tides
Post by: Ricalynn on August 15, 2012, 02:03:54 PM
Official Announcement on TheSims3.com newsfeed:

If you were watching the Seasons broadcast then you heard King talking about a brand new world coming to The Sims 3 Store:  Sunlit Tides!

A modern downtown gives way to a lush jungle sprinkled with exotic bungalows and waterfront vacation homes nestled between the gentle waves of the ocean and a sun kissed lagoon. Enjoy a picnic on the beach, plan a secret rendezvous at an island waterfall, or cozy up to a loved one in the shade of a palm tree and watch the sun sink into the sea. Will your Sims find true love, or just have fun trying?

Excited yet? Start chatting in the Sunlit Tides forums!

It certainly looks sunlit.. I wonder how large the Island is?

Which one?  King Choi made it sound like there would be smaller islands that sims would need to swim to.  Swimming coming with the Seasons patch not just the expansion.

Oh, Lol. That could really put a big dent in how long it takes Sims to swim to work.  ;) I haven't seen the chat so I don't know anything really.

And to think I haven't even had a game in Lucky Palms yet.. ::)

It looks very pretty, but yet another bit of store content thrown at us after all the other stuff we're waiting for? Slow down please!

The swimming-to-islands things sounds rather cool. I'm a bit annoyed at this not being included with Seasons because it quite easily could've been seeing as this is so very Seasons-centered, but oh well.

They do have a bit of a cheek if you ask me, not giving us a world with Seasons and then releasing a Store World which uses Seasons features. So it seems like the CAW team now only make Store Worlds and hardly make EP worlds now.

I don't know.  I see it as using the Seasons swimming but a tropical island world is actually the last place I would want to see snow so that's probably why it's separate versus with the expansion.

New Picture from Twitter:

I think I see at least two new bushes.

I actually think it could work with snow, I'm a bit of a weirdo that way. :P Like a snowy island. I like snowy islands.

Looks like it's infusing some Tiki themes! Finally a place to use that Tiki set from the store! Just didn't seem to look right anywhere else.

Releasing an EP without a world and a store world that would work great with said EP? Someone needed extra lunch money, methinks. :P

It's a pretty interesting looking place, though.

It's pretty, but I agree that it would only work well with one or at most two seasons... Personally, I'm glad that they concentrated on ensuring that weather works with all worlds, and release this separately, rather than making the EP that bit more bloated and probably expensive and glitchy... I don't really buy store worlds (although I'm often tempted by the features that come with them), as I think they're kind of expensive for what they are... Having said that, it does look beautiful, and will obviously work very well with Seasons... I can't imagine it ever getting cold enough to snow there though!

SimGuruSarah just tweeted that ST (their acronym for Sunlit Tides) will have over a dozen empty lots.  Like Lucky Palms, they created a "empty neighborhood" area.

SimGuruTaterTot just posted more on her blog about Sunlit Tides.

Coconuts are on the trees but are decoration only according to SimGuruSarah on a tweet back to SimsVIP who asked the same thing.

My favorite part is it looks like the giant tree on the mountain looks to have houses or lookouts from it.  Which could be just how the picture was taken.  Can't tell if they're in the background or on the tree.

I can't imagine them releasing a harvestable with a store item though.   A harvestable would require at least a patch and we don't always get one of those when it comes to store items.

The bed looks awesome and the house makes me think that the world will be mostly modern.

SimGuruSarah revealed that there is a clue to the new Rabbit Holes on TaterTot's blog, someone on twitter pointed out the suspicious attachments to the volcano cone shown on Ricalynn's post in the sunset pictures. If you look closely you can see it looks odd.

For some reason, it reminds me of portions of Sunset Valley and Sims Stories Castaway. I guess the beaches and the house similar to the Wolff's house has a lot to do with it. I'm sure it will be different, but the scenery makes me think the SV beaches.

I have yet to play with LL and LP, but I can't wait to play this one and watch it snow over there. I mean, I know it doesn't make sense, but Sims was never suppose to make any sense. ;)

I think it looks totally different to the SV Beaches.. It looks way more tropical and slightly Caribbean, whereas Sunset Valley just looks like what I'd expect to see in America, on the coast or something. It also looks so much greener and more vibrant than Sunset Valley.  :)

They just announced that they want builders to build things for this world.    The official forum thread can be found here (http://forum.thesims3.com/jforum/posts/list/574681.page).

Also Thomas - someone was asking if that's a new fence because of the way the colum works with it.  So that might be a possibility. But considering how the roof looks I'm betting it's part of a bistro or diner rabbithole.

I had to laugh at that because it's mostly true, I think.  The beaches along the Gulf of Mexico, which are the closes to me, aren't exactly known for their white beaches and brilliant blue water.  ;D

Quite like that streetlight! Am I the only one that gets thrills when they bring out new streetlights and mailboxes specific to a certain world? I don't know I just rather like it. Like the mailboxes in Lucky Palms, those are some fancy mailboxes.

Perhaps Hidden Springs is the closest thing we have? There are some nice ones, the nicest I've been to is the one in St Andrews but then what do you expect from such a posh and awesome town? :P I have been to one on the west coast near Glasgow that was absolutely horrible and so very dirty, never want to see what place again!

I think the best possible explanation this isn't in Seasons is because this world can't and shouldn't have winter, thus unable to fully exploit the features of Seasons.
Title: Re: New Store World - Sunlit Tides
Post by: xFezIsAFreakx on August 16, 2012, 07:07:45 AM
With Seasons installed, it will have winter though. Unless there is some sort of feature in which you can turn off certain seasons, but aren't there countries in the world where you get like, certain extremes of weather? So in the summer it's extremely hot and in the winter it's snow mania?

Yes, I live in one of those countries, very hot summers and very cold snowy winters, but also beautiful springs and autumns :)

I love the look of this world, and I love the colors - sunset and sea are just wonderful! This may be the first Store World I am considering to get after that dissapointment with BB!
From what I read, swimming will not be added in patch but with Seasons, and that is now making me think of routing issues for leaving those isolated islands.
I am excited about the coconut palm trees, specialy the curved one lol and rocks with golden sprey on them.. and whole Tiki style that reminds me of Sims 2! Seriously reconsidering this world, or at least to get the water and sunset settings from .ini files.

Fez, they've said that you can control the seasons. If it's like Seasons in TS2, you'll get 4 slots; for Sunset Tides, you could do 4 Summers or a combination of Spring and Summer. Apparently, you'll also be able to control length of season as well.

And Anushka, swimming in the ocean will be included in the patch that comes with Seasons.

Awesome! I'm thinking of dynasties though, I assume it'll be like the ageing settings where we need to keep the seasons default or something. So if someone wanted to do one here, they'd need to bare the town in the winter. I vouch for thinking it'll look awesome in the winter!

Awsome! I'm not really into custom worlds but this one looks amazing! Hopefully they will sell it in my country, which doesn't always happen  ::).

Is it me or EA is kind of rushing lately? I feel like we are being bombarded with new EPs and worlds and premium content and stuff. Not that I'm complaining, but releasing 2 EPs in 3 months (if the rumors about Seasons' release Date are true) is kind of extreme!

Post by: Frey on August 16, 2012, 01:03:35 PM
LOL, it looks like I'm going to need to start looking for a new super laptop soon. There's no way this one is going to handle Sims 4, and I'm not sure how many EPs more it will be able to run without exploding.

Anyways.... The pics from ST look amazing, the sunsets are just too cool to be true! And I love that it's modern-inspired, it was past time they did a modern city. Well, Bridgeport is kind of modern too and I like it a lot, but it's such a heavy world that my game lags like crazy. It's going to be good to have another option. If, like I said, I can buy it... from Chile I can only redeem sim-money that I get for buying EPs, but I can't buy with a credit card. So unless they sell it in stores like Barnacle Bay I will have too keep waiting LOL.

Introducing the new Uber-Rabbithole - THE LAIR forum link (http://forum.thesims3.com/jforum/posts/list/575529.page)

Are you tired of your Criminal Sims slinking in the shadows and hiding inside a series of “abandoned” warehouses? Do you think they are in desperate need of a Lair that reflects how awesome they really are? Then look no further than The Sims 3 Sunlit Tides!

The featured Rabbit Hole for Sunlit Tides is a stunning volcano hideout worthy of the most devious of villains!

And devious villains abound in the beautiful isle of Sunlit Tides! The criminal network is strong on the island. Alana Kahale is the 3rd generation running the family business. Her husband dominates the island’s political scene and her brother runs the local law enforcement, so she’s free to carry out her nefarious schemes without interference.

This world looks really nice. I will probably wait until around the release of Season to get it tho.
I'm still learning Lucky Palms and going to have a new world to play in soon when Supernatural comes out. That will keep me busy for awhile. :)

Daniel and Mary-Sue Pleasant are back!

Do you remember the struggling family with red-haired teenage daughters in The Sims 2?

“On the surface, Daniel and Mary-Sue Pleasant seem to have the perfect life, but is their love a flimsy façade? And can Angela and Lilith make the right choices when it comes to love?”

My how times changed! At Sunlit Tides we go back in time to see them before the busy jobs and the kids, enjoying their honeymoon! Daniel and Mary-Sue couldn’t be more happy! After a whirlwind wedding they’ve come to the island to rest, relax and enjoy their time together!

The worldwide release date is Thursday, August 23rd!  ;D

SimsVIP posted the blog link which is apparently having some issues at the moment:
http://simsvip.com/?p=14634

It looks like there will be Standard and Gold editions just like with Lucky Palms.  The Gold edition includes the Serenity Retreat venue with the Infinite Zen massage table.

According to the blog, the premium content item is the Steam-It-Up Sauna, which combines a mud bath and sauna bench.  No walls so you can build your own day spa and make some extra simoleons on the side.  You can even take harvestables into the sauna and make steamed veggies.

Shut up and take my money!

I think Union Cove's gym and their pseudo-sauna needs an update now.

The actual blog:  (link (http://www.thesims3.com/community/blog.html?blogid=449675))

Here is a special blog from Designer Alan Copeland introducing the Sauna premium item for Sunlit Tides and the Massage Table premium item for Sunlit Tides Gold.

I’ve always wanted to peer into some of the rabbit holes in The Sims and see what goes on inside. Who wouldn’t want to see all of the dastardly things that happen in the run-down warehouse where the criminals hang out, or get a backstage pass for a glimpse into the actor’s career? One of the rabbit holes that strike me as particularly intriguing is the Day Spa. Usually reserved for Sims with quite a few extra Simoleons, the Day Spa is particularly appealing, since few things in the game boost a Sim’s mood—or present such compelling storytelling opportunities—as this rabbit hole.

When we started considering premium content that would fit with a tranquil island theme for The Sims 3 Sunlit Tides, the Steam-It-Up Sauna seemed like an ideal fit. Not only can the sauna soothe away those pesky debuff moodlets from exercising or working too much, the moodlets that you get from hydrotherapy or a revitalizing mud bath can also help to prevent those negative effects in the first place! However, we didn’t want the Steam-It-Up Sauna to be just a soothing getaway; we also wanted it to add some fun, socialization and romance to your Sim’s vacation.

One of the fun features that we added (and one of my personal favorites) is the ability to take harvestables into the sauna and quickly make some steamed veggies, adding a bit of random fun that harkens back to The Sims 2. There are a number of fun little Easter eggs to discover in the Steam-It-Up-Sauna. For instance, when a werewolf or a dog enters the sauna, there’s a chance that everybody else might be turned off by the smell of wet dog. Sims can also chat, cuddle or even steam things up with a new type of WooHoo (a premium content first!)  Also, if your Sims wants to try for a baby, the sauna gives you the option to try for a baby boy, girl or even twins! At one point, we considered adding walls to the sauna, but when we saw some of the really creative ways that builders were able to modify it, from creating individual rooms to building bathhouses, the customizability was too much fun to pass up. We’re looking forward to seeing what customizations you create!

Serenity Retreat Venue (available with the Gold edition of Sunlit Tides!)

As we developed The Sims 3 Sunlit Tides, we wanted to ensure we included something to complement the Day Spa career and would allow you to build that experience at home (and make a few Simoleons on the side). The Infinite Zen massage table, which comes exclusively with the new Serenity Retreat venue, allows you to do just that! Sims can gain fun, energy and social all while removing soreness or a number of other negative moodlets from another Sim. The massage table also fulfills wishes you’d normally only be able to fulfill at the Day Spa rabbit hole. There is also the opportunity for some funny and romantic moments, such as failures associated with botched hot stone massages or acupunctures. Sims can also give romantic massages to each other if they are in a relationship, and get the life-changing high fertility buff.

We love to hear your feedback, and we hope you enjoy playing this new content as much as we enjoyed making it. Be sure to check out it out in The Sims 3 Sunlit Tides, which launches worldwide on Thursday, August 23!

Also, if your Sims wants to try for a baby, the sauna gives you the option to try for a baby boy, girl or even twins!

That sounds cool. Might cut down on having to gorge on watermelons and apples. :)

Gold edition was something that happened when Lucky Palms came out.   There were two editions - the normal one without the casino and one with the casino.   This one is coming the same way.  There is going to be an extra building that you can either get with the town or without it.

Yes but SimGuruSarah also said (http://twitter.com/SimGuruSarah/status/238029678890319872) that giving a romantic massage on the new massage table has the chance to give the "high fertility" moodlet which will increase your chance of twins or triplets.

Seriously another world? Lucky Palms was just released a month ago!

I had to laugh at that because it's mostly true, I think.  The beaches along the Gulf of Mexico, which are the closes to me, aren't exactly known for their white beaches and brilliant blue water.  ;D

I totally agree Pam. I was visiting Galveston a week ago, and the beaches were trashed with thousands, yes thousands of dead fish. There were so many of them, I had to watch my step!

I know exactly how you feel! I was extremely disappointed that Daniel and his sister Jennifer weren't included in TS3, and I always wanted them included. I would've been the happiest little girl in the whole world if the Altos, The Bunch's and the Landgraabs were sacrificed to make room for their younger selves. I always hated Mary Sue for some reason though, LOL! I hope at least Jeff, Diane, and Jennifer make an appearance.

My favourite items have to be the sauna and massage table, both look like fun and I like how you can try for a boy or girl with the sauna and increase your chances of twins or triplets with the massage table. Making steamed vegetables is awesome too.I like how many different kinds of massages you can do too. The wedding arch is beautiful, so are the new outdoor and indoor flowers/bushes, the lamps/lights and the starfish, I could make such a pretty garden with those!  :D I like the idea of the spa shelf, aquarium and outdoor shower too. One of the ladies hairstyles and that new swimsuit/dress thing is really nice as well.

I would have to go gold for this but I won't be able to afford this for a few months yet but it's on my list.

I just bought it and am working on the resident list in case anyone is interested.

I think what I would like to do is create a spreadsheet file, with a photo of each resident, and then turn it into a .pdf file.   My question is how would I link a file on here so you guys could get it?
EDIT:  My list is going to take at least a couple of days to finish, what with that nasty thing called work getting in my way.  That and I am a perfectionist.

I don't know whether Google Docs would be able to do that or not?

EDIT: I was gifted the World and was just in the Pleasant Household, tried out the new Spa thing and it appears that the Steam-It-Up Sauna reduces Age when a Mud Bath is taken, I'm guessing it will have to be banned for Dynasties since the Mud Bath seems to be an Autonomous action.

You don't actually have to go through all that trouble.  You need to remember there is another member doing a database that this is going to be added to and we don't require pictures.  That's more of a Sim Wiki thing.  We do this as a courtesy.   Also remember that there are some townies whose job will change based on who you chose first and their skills will vary due to that.    I wouldn't  create anything that you can't really put into a post using the BBCode, as an image or a google document.  Anything beyond that can't really be hosted on the board to share it.

I'm perfectly able to take tomorrow morning and come up with a quick list like I did for Lucky Palms - I just couldn't do it today because of circumstances.  I understand being a perfectionist and appreciate your willingness to do this.

I caved and downloaded too, and the world is gorgeous!  ;D

Some interesting things I noted:
Somehow I got the Edwardian Expression fridge and counter with ST Gold (I didn't have these before and ST Gold is the only thing I downloaded today).

The Serenity Retreat venue isn't actually labeled in the community lot bin - it still just says Community Lot.  :o

The hydrotherapy bath option in the sauna gives a moodlet that allows your sim to work out longer without getting fatigued.  It also gives a +20 mood Recover Like a Sports Star moodlet for 8 hours and a +15 mood Duck Time moodlet for 4 (or 5?) hours.

The revitalizing mud bath gives a +20 mood Inner Peace moodlet for 1 day and restores energy and hygiene, in addition to reducing age by 1 day.

The hot stone massage refilled both the masseuse and recipient's energy bars by almost half.  When they got on the table, they were both on the verge of passing out.  The Pebble Prepped moodlet gives +20 mood for 4 hours.

Edit:  The deep tissue, acupuncture, and swedish massages also refilled about half of the energy bar each.  The Loose and Limber moodlet from the deep tissue massage gives +20 mood for 12 hours, the Finding Nirvana moodlet from the acupuncture gives +20 mood for 4 hours, and the Relaxed moodlet from the swedish massage gives +50 mood for 12 hours.  The massages don't take that long either, so my sims don't need to sleep any more!  ;D  They refill energy, fun, and social, and both sims can be listening to a tabcast during the massage.  They basically gave each other massages and took baths all night and then they were ready to go to work!

Let me get this straight, we get: outside shower, sauna & mud bath, massage table, new clothes & plants, new wedding arch, and more? I don't want the town, I just want the stuff!
Oh I will definitely have to buy this at some time or other!

Yes, the outdoor shower, massage table, wedding arch, and some plants are part of the Serenity Retreat venue that may eventually be sold separately from the Gold edition.  The sauna & mud bath, new clothes, and most of the plants are exclusively sold with the world, however.

If they are part of the venue, can we still get them in buy mode? Or are they tied to that venue only?

I think it's a nice World but I'm not really sue about a long-term game in it, it would be amazing as a travel destination. All of the lots in the world seem to be very well built and made which is good, I've found previous Worlds by EA to be lacking in that. The sunsets are beautiful and the night sky is great as well.

Try Acupuncture on the massage table, let's just say I see why Daniel and Mary-Sue began to suffer in the relationship, it all started by Daniel dropping the needles...  :)

If they are part of the venue, can we still get them in buy mode? Or are they tied to that venue only?

The Outdoor shower (Plumbing -> Misc/Showers and Tubs) is available in buymode as is the steam-it-up Sauna (Plumbing -> Misc) and Infinite Zen Massage Table (Entertainment -> Misc).

I love this world, but a tropical beach world is my idea of paradise.  ;D  I can't see myself getting tired of it any time soon.

I just started a new couple on an empty lot on the beach with a massage table, sauna, outdoor shower, and fridge for veggies.  They only need a table and one walled in room for a toilet, but they're otherwise all set.  It seems to be great for minimalist needs while skilling, and the view is fantastic.  Some of the larger houses look amazing too.  I don't like to use money cheats so my sims are saving up to move to one of them eventually.

I am going to buy the gold version when I come back from holiday. If you're going to buy a world, you should just go Gold because you get loads of extra stuff and the current sale price isn't a great deal more than the Standard version.
When I get it, I think I might put my third attempt of the Immortal Dynasty challenge there. Does anyone know which lot in ST will be used as the Immortal Dynasty Challenge lot?

When you get back from holiday Snuffles, double check the rules and by then Metro will have made a decision and revised them to include the address.

If you have the deep fryer, some people have been unable to get them to work.  I have the fryer and I was able to get them both to work at least once but I didn't have the fryer placed so maybe that's the difference.
Title: Re: New Store World - Sunlit Tides
Post by: samoht04 on August 24, 2012, 03:47:58 PM
I haven't experienced any glitches at all, mind you I don't have the fryer. I also found out Pregnant Sims can get massages on the table, but can not use the Sauna at all. It says they can sit on it but when Mary-Sue went to sit on it all that happened was she stood there and a bubble with the pregnancy symbol appeared.

Will the outdoor shower work for putting out a sim that's on fire? I'm assuming it will but just wondered if anyone has tried it. If so that will be nice. You can just put it down near the sculpting station or inventing table and not having to worry about putting walls up around it.
Title: Re: New Store World - Sunlit Tides
Post by: Ricalynn on August 24, 2012, 03:54:34 PM
If they are on fire, you don't have to have walls around them anyway.  It's only when you're actually showering that privacy becomes an issue.  I use a dive well in my dynasty file.

However - I have not used it yet as I can't seem to get my Sims to catch on fire today.  I actually tried but it wouldn't work.

Yes, the outdoor shower works for sims on fire.  SimGuruSarah posted that somewhere.

I have the deep fryer also and I haven't had any glitches at all.  I have no mods or CC.

Sims will shower in their swimwear when using the outdoor shower, I have yet to see if you place it inside whether they still do or not but I suspect they will.

Does the outdoor shower come with the gold version?

I believe so. I think it will come with the Spa Lot when that is released though.

They will.  In the live chat, it was stated that the outdoor shower has separate code so the sims automatically wear their swimwear to use it.

The Serenity Retreat venue will likely be released separately eventually, but SimGuruSarah said it could be weeks or months (no current ETA).  Also, the standard version has no sale price, so it might be more expensive to buy them separately than to get the gold version on sale.

If there are I don't know where but the only way to make them is through CAW which wouldn't you can't do easily, or at all really. It's very complicated and not worth doing anyway.

I'm so torn. I don't know whether to get this world or not. I'd need to purchase the 5000 SimPoint bundle (minimum!) and in the NZ store, that costs $52, compared to the US$40 for America.

I'm loving it, especially the part where my sims don't need a bed or to go to sleep any more.  No more wasted skilling time since they can listen to a podcast during massages or read a book while regaining energy more slowly in the sauna.

I did get the starfish bundle, but the starfish are just decorative.  They are categorized as rocks.  The bundle does not include any world (gold or standard) with it; it's just a bundle of 7,700 simpoints for you to spend.  ST Gold costs 3,700.

Starfish as a fish to catch in the water came with Showtime.  The starfish that are associated with Sunlit Tides are decorative rocks.  There is a plain blue one that comes with the town and there is a variety pack that comes as a bundle with Simpoints.

I bought the gold edition, mainly for the cool items that came with it. Then I was exploring the island, and I am blown away! It's beautiful! I am in the middle of moving all my sims there (I have a habit lately of falling in love with the latest worlds and moving my sims there, but hopefully this will be the last time). I deleted the criminal volcano thing, since I don't play that career anyway, and replaced it with the actor/director rabbit hole - make those actors run up hill to get to work!

Has anyone else noticed that no Expansion/Stuff Pack Lots seem to auto-place in Sunlit Tides? I'm definitely not complaining I just wonder if it's just me.  ;) I've been building some of the ambitions lots and it's so fun to build in the tropical style! Not sure how to build the fire station though - not sure they'd have the station built out of wood and thatched roof.  :P

Those with the massage table - Have you had a failed acupuncture? It's so funny, well for you no the sim on the receiving end of the dropped box of needles.

That's kinda disturbing I think. I saw a movie (Final destination 5) a guy was getting those needles in his back, but he fell off the table and landed on his back. It just reminds me of that.  :o

I had to manually place any lots that I wanted that are not base game.

Also, after looking around, there are really not a whole lot of single sims around for Dynasty Spouses. I just started yet another attempt at an Immortal Dynasty after FINALLY having discovered why my brand new laptop kept crashing while playing. I moved in the entire Kahale Family, as their nearly-teen daughter has the artistic trait and both parents have high-level jobs, 9 in Criminal and I believe 8 in Politics.

This was just a quick count...
(I have the standard edition, not Gold)

Occupied Residential Lots: 24
Unoccupied Residential Lots: 10
Empty Residential Lots: 10

Community Lots: 34
Empty Community Lots: 5

There are a lot of beautiful parks and beaches in this world. It is by far my favorite. EA really did a good job with this one, everything fits the tropical island feel.

I like it so far, but haven't explored much.  I also put all my characters in there, or will.  Right now I'm sampling and have only put one in, but I do plan to the add the rest.

It's a very pretty world, but so far the two times I have tried to play it, it was seriously laggy, more so than SV.  I have Pets and am using some of the mods (story progression, master controller) and they do not slow things down this much in SV, but.....

We'll see.  Maybe it was just a fluke.

But I love the massage table!

Don't worry about that, most of them seem to be having an affair of some sort so none of the marriages seem to be in heaven. I played Mary-Sue and Daniel, they wouldn't kiss even with full relationship and then they met their bosses and rolled wishes for their bosses and meh, it all broke down from that. They are currently expecting a child with each other but are both engaged to their bosses now.  :P

Space on the island is quite good I think, there is a whole peninsula that has just empty lots on so that's good. Although once you start adding EP Lots you'll start to run out of room.

Has anyone noticed that when you get robbed the police officer seems to always lose the fight and the burglar gets away? I've been robbed 4 times (he didn't get anything because I have the alarm) but the burglar always gets away! It must be because of the backstory about how come is rampant, I think that's a cool detail :)

I had a quick look around and I found special seeds at the top of a hill, can't recall the name right at the moment.
As for Angel fish I don't even bother with those I just get my fisherSim up to level ten fishing and send him or her to the graveyard and I always get death fish. You have to fish on the left side of the pond at the graveyard to get death fish. Then once I get two I put them in a tank together and breed baby fish.

Some advice for people entering the criminal career: Don't take the carpool to work. They take your Sim up to the Pleasant House and then your Sim gets a taxi down the road again and up half along the other road then still has to climb the mountain. So send them to the rabbit hole themselves not by carpool. It takes an hour for my SIm to get from home to the Pleasants house.  :-\

You just stock the tank with the fish in your inventory, feed them and care for the tank if it needs cleaning. Then if you see some woohoo hearts in the tank then the fish are breeding and another deathfish will appear.

I don't really know as I've only read about the trick, I've not actually done it. My history with fish tanks is not the liveliest of histories.  :P I'd say that the fish tank might be quicker but possibly more dangerous as you just might forget to feed them.

With an upgraded replicator you can get sixty servings of ambrosia from one death fish. I am experimenting at the moment to see how long a half cooked bowl of ambrosia can be left before it turns bad. If it does not turn bad you could just restock the replicator when you use up all the Ambrosia. My pair of death fish had just seven young they were reproducing on average every four Sim days, feeding just became part of the routine.I have more then enough death fish so I took them out of the tank and put them in my Sims inventory.

Artie says get a teleporter.  I told him he's going to ST without one just because.    But really this is probably the one town where the teleporter or the Not-So-Routine Machine upgraded would be good to have around.   I'll have to remember that in a little bit.

I wonder if the bowl will go bad if you have the Culinary fridge.  I may have to look into that in my dynasty game in about 20 minutes.  I'll let you guys know.

Haha, I don't have the Routine machine and Rabbit can't afford the Teleporter yet but she now has a Moodlet Manager so that helps get her out the house, she lives on the beach lot near City Hall (On that Island) and it takes her nearly 2 hours to get to work. But now with the moodlet manager she can skip all the showering and unimportant stuff and just jump in the sauna, get the moodlets and then off to work.  ;)

My Jade Dynasty still has the first bowl of Ambrosia that was replicated, it hasn't been finished off and it hadn't seemed to have gone off last time I checked. I had it on the roof.

I just got this town and I have to say it is absolutely stunning! It takes a while to get round the island, but I like it anyway. I really like the way EA redesigned the rabbit holes. I got the Gold version, but I haven't tried out any of the premium content yet.

One thing I noticed was that family members tend to have names beginning with the same letter, for example Hector, Hazel and Hugh. There are other families as well, I just can't remember the names of the top of my head.

Shut up and take my money!

I think Union Cove's gym and their pseudo-sauna needs an update now.

Sigh.  You're right.  That sauna never quite worked right.  Steam all over everywhere!  Still, I thought it was pretty clever.  Ok, I'll see if Anushka is up to having me redo the gym with new saunas.

If you have the Culinary fridge, it never goes bad.  At least I've never had mine go bad.  Made me wonder if I really needed a replicator.

It's Store Content so we won't be able to put it in an actual version of Union Cove but you can always upload the edited lot?  :)

Brings a question to mind... can half cooked foods actually go off? I don't think it's in the XML files in the code, which is the only kind I consider myself able to read well, so I don't know.

I'm not certain, but I think at some point I have seen it happen. Whether it be sims 2 or sims 3 I couldn't say. It's been a while since my sims really bothered with cooking - with all the challenges the motive mobile is a must.

I can't wait til I can get this world! It brings back memories of sims 2, and I marvel at how crappy my builds were back then. I had a couple of good ones, but nothing like what I do now. Outdoor showers! Oh the building opportunities! Too bad I'm not including any store content in my new world, otherwise these new items would really improve some lots.

I've seen uncooked food from the fridge (trays with ingredients) go off but once it's started being cooked it's never left long enough to find out, haha.  :D

When you get it you could upload some lots to replace the no store lots and add them in?

That is the plan. I'm hoping to do some 'sets' to go with it; depending on what people might want.

I'm doing a total rebuild of the Kahale house to make it more modern and luxurious with a beachy feel. I posted some pictures in the Showboat Thread (http://www.carls-sims-3-guide.com/forum/index.php/topic,1468.msg237365.html#msg237365).

Looks like Sunshine Runningwolf wants to be in Sunlit Tides

She is currently in Sunset Valley, married to Christopher Runningwolf (Nee Steel), and expecting their first child.

The new outdoor shower that comes with this world has a 50% chance to get the 'exhilerating shower' buff.  I noticed it was happening rather often, so I checked the _xml for it. Ooh, and you can change the colour of hair dyes that you can get for pranks! It has an RGB value.

Yes but SimGuruSarah also said (http://twitter.com/SimGuruSarah/status/238029678890319872) that giving a romantic massage on the new massage table has the chance to give the "high fertility" moodlet which will increase your chance of twins or triplets.

My sims got pregnant on vacation, and during their first day back in the real world, before the pregnancy was announced, the dad-to-be gave the mom-to-be a romantic massage.  I did nothing else to encourage multiple births, and she had twins.

I love the massage table - the energy replenishment is fantastic and the moodlets are very nice.  My only complaint is that if the massage table is in my house, paparazzi keep trying to initiate massages wIth my sims.  The sims then go to the table and stand there until the paparazzi gives up trying to get in the house... At which time the paparazzi initiates another massage.  Putting the tables in at the gym works all right.

The sauna is marvelous - the hydrotherapy cures fatigue, the mud bath gives a nice 24 hour buff and a decent energy boost.  I haven't conceived any kids in the sauna yet.

One object that I really love that comes with this world is the outdoor shower.  Sims don't need privacy to use it, they shower in their swimsuits, it gives the great shower buff, and it's cheap to buy.  I keep one handy by my sculpting stations and inventing workbench.

I don't think one has been made yet, I couldn't find it in this thread or posted anywhere on the Towns and Townies board.

Thanks for checking, loveofcake.

I don't know about other people, but personally I find those resident lists incredibly useful, so is anyone interested in compiling a resident list for Sunlit Tides?

There was someone who had said they had it done and were going to post it but apparently it never got made so I'm going to go dig out all the information I had made back when it came out and hope I can find it again.   So I guess I volunteer. :)

I am playing a legacy game in Sunlit Tides, and I do love the views and everything. This town seems very low on spawners, though. It's fairly easy to find seeds, and I found a few plants in one of the parks, but metal and gems seem to be scarce. Good thing my Sim is an inventor and made a miner.

I know this is a bit of a thread necromancy, but right now, if someone wishes to buy Sunlit Tides, it is on sale for 50% off at the Sims 3 store until June 30.  This includes both Gold and Standard Editions.

Corroboration can be found here:
