I have been playing world adventures recently and noticed that in several tombs (in all three destinations) there is a small room with a sort of 'R' shape on the floor in different colour floor tiles. The room and the 'R' are exactly the same shape and size in each tomb. Mostly these rooms are hard to find (ie hidden doors) and have just some small fragment of ancient coins inside. I was wondering if anyone had noticed these and knew what they meant, if anything?
Edit: This is an example of what I'm talking about. This particular one was inside the Great Pyramid, but they're all over the place.

I've not noticed them, however there are still at least 75% of Tombs left for me to explore, Lol. It could be one of those hidden secrets they like to put in the Game that mean something to them as the creators or to another group. :)

You're probably right! I just get very obsessive about finding everything in these tombs :P I only have the one under the French nectary to complete and then I'm done! Trying to complete all of the relic collections too :)
-
I would guess that it is to do with The Eyes of Horus. One is red, the other is blue. You use them to teleport from one to the other.
-
I never noticed that before, but I'm going to be looking for that 'R' in every single tomb from now on.
-
@Chuckles: I never thought of that! I have found the eyes, but if it was to do with them surely it would just be egypt? Good idea though.
@amyrose: I know! The first time I thought it stood for 'right' or something, but it kept cropping up in various tombs in all three countries. So bizarre! :)

I recently discovered this:
One of these "R" rooms have a secret door that leads into a completely black void, but for some fire traps. Somewhere in this blacked out space is some sort of sanctuary with a treasure chest. It is like they made it completely secret and unlogical that such a room should even exist by general tomb layout principles.
-
I never noticed this and I go tomb raiding a lot, I've done all the tombs in Egypt multiple times too. But then again I was probably too busy fending of Mummies, trying not to get fried to a crisp by traps and emptying the tonbs of treasure, hehe. ;) :P

There's a similar weird floor tile pattern on the floor in some of the chambers in the Maze of the High Ruler in France. I made a note "odd mosaic pattern on the floor" in a journal I keep about tomb raiding but didn't note down if it resembled the letter 'R' like your post above. Next time I have a Sim in France with Pangu's axe I'll look around for hidden doors to black voids. Thanks.
-
I don't think it's a letter R; if you tilt your head to the left it looks sort of like an Egyptian-style picture of an eye. No clue what it symbolises though. :P
-
You're probably right; it's just the first time I saw it it was that way up on my screen so I automatically started thinking of it as an R. It bugs me not knowing what it's about, though! :P

I'm with you on that one!

I'm fairly convinced I've figured out the basic concept of it just now. Here's what I think:
a) I believe it is an R.
b) I am very certain it stands for "Relic".
c) I believe each one houses one very unique or valuable relic, or leads secretly to a blacked out void with a sanctuary in it to house such a relic.
I am now documenting my finds and will post it once I have completed all adventures with Nicky Crimson.

You don't need to go to that much trouble. I can tell you that at the very least there is not a wonderful relic in all of these rooms. It's possible it leads to one. But all you need to do is go into buy mode, and with testing cheats enabled, shift + click on each treasure spawner or chest or hole in the wall and see it's treasure components. I think it is more likely about the door to the void, though I haven't seen doors on some of those rooms either (to the void, that is).
-
Maybe it's just a cool design. :P
-
I'm doing a streak of adventures anyway so it's just a matter of making a few notes. And I only discovered two so far with a void behind it. Both had the odd sanctuary. One was in Egypt and one was in France. And I'd do the cheat thing, except that it's so much more fun working for it. Thanks Chuckles.

Zeneport only works on that one "spiral" with the floor switch.
It does NOT work on the other zigzag doorway in Tuatha's. The one with the treasure chest requiring a heart keystone. Tried zeneport, but there's apparently not enough room to meditate or teleport in that narrow hallway.
Will try ghost potion. Haven't had much good experience with potions.
Haven't tried zeneport on the Temple of Heaven doorway.
Intrigued by this "R" room question...
-
Okay - I sent a Sim to France with Pangu's Axe. She tried the Maze of the High Ruler which has the same "R" pattern on the floor. There is indeed a void behind that chamber but there's no hidden door leading to it. Just a void with nothing in it. I checked with testingcheats enabled and found there was just a empty unlit space as if EA built too big a tomb and decided enough was enough. Let us know how it went in Egypt.
There is however, an issue I have with that Maze. Does anyone else get nothing from under the rubble pile on the left of the door past the room with the statues?
-
Go to the void, or the "R" room rather, and shift-click on the floor, "buy on this lot", and install some lights in the void, you should see what they're hiding. Then just undo all the actions in buy mode so that you don't affect the tomb, then exit buy mode.

Sorry for the rebump, but I came across this thread today and tweeted SimGuruGraham who tweeted Ray Mazza (I believe he's the Creative Director for Sims), and found out it's just a calling card / Easter Egg - R for Ray.

Cool :) I love Easter Eggs
