Title: Consignment Store Quartet — the Great 28!
Post by: Metropolis Man on May 12, 2012, 02:28:37 PM
Consignment Store Quartet — the Great 28!

Goal
Making money in Sims 3 via the consignment store...lots and lots of money. That’s the goal in this simple challenge. You have to juggle 4 Sims and all must take different avenues for their financial aspirations. You can only sell 28 items per week. Which ones will you choose? ;)

General Challenge Rules
The General Challenge Rules (http://www.carls-sims-3-guide.com/forum/index.php?topic=7534.msg154279#msg154279) always apply. If applicable, exceptions will be noted below.

Specific Challenge Rules
Scoring
Scoring is simple but requires a LOT of adding — 28 separate totals of consignment store sales. Carefully note your sales total each day just after 5 PM, and add up all 7 days of a week for the 4 separate amounts. Add the 4 weeks together for your final total.

Here is a nice simple spreadsheet Krrank worked up to make scoring easier. Thank you, Krrank. :) Consignment Store Spreadsheet (https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0As0l5o7pYyC8dHhWNXFlQkVTWUJNZ282a29hV0JZa3c)

So do we just count the profits from week nine onwards. Cause I am a little bit confused.

Yes, you do.
I think this is going to be a great challenge! I already have an initial strategy worked out...

So each sim can sell as many different items as they like in the first 8 weeks, of any particular type?
And then after that they are restricted to one particular type of item each?
And is that four per day in total, or four for each sim?
Can they sell more than four, but only count the first four or most valuable four? Or if they accidentally sell 5 are you out of the challenge?

Well I don't get it then what is the point of the first eight weeks then if you don't get to count anything towards your score.

The first eight weeks are for setting up your final four week strategy. I, too, have a strategy mapped out that I'd like to test but I think I should finish the current challenge first.

Yeah I got that part although eight weeks just seems like a lot of time to be working on that.I am not sure that I see exactly where the challenge lies.
It is probably just me being stupid and not seeing what is right in front of me.

Correct.

Right.

4 per day total.

Can they sell more than four, but only count the first four or most valuable four? Or if they accidentally sell 5 are you out of the challenge?

Yeah, that would be a serious problem. Just be very careful. You can only sell 4 a day.

Couldn't we calculate the total of all sales at the end of week 8 and subtract that from the total at the end of the challenge to come up with the total for the 4 weeks?
Do we need to cancel any of the 4 items if they are unsold after the day they were put up for consignment?

That would be simpler, but it takes away from showing what each Sim contributes -- the 4 separate weeks.

Do we need to cancel any of the 4 items if they are unsold after the day they were put up for consignment?

No. But, if one item remains unsold then the following day you would only be able to list 3 new ones.

Title: Re: Consignment Store Quartet — the Great 28!
Post by: cndneh on May 31, 2012, 01:16:48 PM
  • Beginning Week 9 only one type of item may be sold at the consignment store in each of the remaining weeks — for example, paintings in week 9, inventions week 10, photos week 11, and fish for your final week 12.
  • At the start of week 9 you are allowed to sell a maximum of 4 items per day at the consignment store, or 28 items in a given week.

after week 9 - each Sim may only sell (example) paintings, so all 4 will have to sell them in that given week, or Sim 1 can only sell paintings but Sim 2 can only sell inventions etc?

After week 9 - each Sim may sell 4 items so 28 items per Sim per week?  or 28 items total so 1 item per Sim per day?

Sounds like a great challenge!

One item type sold per week. Period.

The rules do not say each Sim may sell 4 items per day. You added that. At the start of week 9 you can only sell 4 items per day. Total.

I was just clarifying that the rules were per household and not per Sim.  Thanks!   :D

Each Sim is limited to 28 items sold per week

Based on the clarifications in the thread here... shouldn't this read Each Sim is limited to 7 items sold per week ?? forgive me if I'm just being dense, it looks like a fun one that I want to try...

This is how I interpret this rule. Correct me if I am wrong.

Weeks 1 to 8: any sim can sell any object on any day at the consignment store.

Week 9:
Sim 1 may sell 4 items on Sunday, 4 items on Monday, 4 items on Tuesday, and so on. Sim 1 may sell a total of 28 items in week 9, and all must be the same type.

Week 10:
Sim 2 may sell 4 items on Sunday, 4 items on Monday, 4 items on Tuesday, and so on. Sim 2 may sell a total of 28 items in week 10, and all must be the same type.

Week 11:
Sim 3 may sell a total of 28 of the same type of item, as above.

Week 12:
Sim 4 may sell a total of 28 of the same type of item, as above.

Do we need to cancel any of the 4 items if they are unsold after the day they were put up for consignment?

No. But, if one item remains unsold then the following day you would only be able to list 3 new ones.

I interpret this to mean that Sim 1 may put 4 items up for sale on Sunday of Week 9. Three of them sell, one does not. Option A: Remove the unsold item from the consignment store, and put 4 new items (or three new and the unsold one) up for sale on Monday. Option B: Leave the unsold item at the consignment store, and put 3 new items up for sale on Monday.

Okay, maybe there is some misunderstanding here. There's nothing in the rules that states that at the beginning of week 9 only one Sim is allowed to sell for that week. The hard and fast rule is that you can only sell one item type and only 28 items in a week. It does not matter who sells. So you could have one seller or all four could sell. Your choice.

So it is the household that is limited to 28 items per week for weeks 9 - 12, not each Sim.... gotcha

Right. Usually when I say "you" in a ruleset that means the whole household given that's what you have total access to. Otherwise I would specifically state what a certain Sim could do.

I think the confusion is the wording on the 28 items.  You do specify each Sim (not household) on that.  At least that's where my confusion on this rule was.

Oooohh...lol. At the  beginning in the intro. My bad. I was pulling my hair out looking at the rules trying to find where the confusion is. Okay, my bad. I'll edit that.

What a great idea for a Challenge!  I may have to dust off my laggy Sims game and try this one.

I've read through the thread a couple of times and maybe I'm missing something, but do the items sold have to be different each week?

The rule states:
Quote
Beginning Week 9 only one type of item may be sold at the consignment store in each of the remaining weeks — for example, paintings in week 9, inventions week 10, photos week 11, and fish for your final week 12.

Could a person decide to, for example, just sell fish every week instead of 4 different types of items?

Good question, Schip. The rules are a little unclear on that. My intent was for the items to be different for each of the last 4 weeks, so I will clarify and edit.

EDIT: And here we go with the addition...

Seems like I could have worded it better, but hopefully everyone gets it.

  • Any item of a given type sold during one of the last 4 weeks may not be sold/repeated in another of the last four weeks (i.e. fish could be sold in week 9, but not in weeks 10 or later).

Thanks for the clarification!

Well, I've just run into my first travel glitch of this game.  My fisherman has gone travelling, and when he arrived at his destination all the fish in his inventory were gone.  That's a lot of work down the drain.  Would it be ok to go back to the previous save?

Hi, you have to download a copy to your computer to use it. It isn't for online usage, since it is a private document I am sharing. Just go to File->Download As ->, and select the file type you want. It works just fine.

Different question -- I just noticed that the game doesn't subtract the consignment fees for you. Can we just ignore them in reporting our totals?

I wasn't sure whether I should post this here in this thread or start a new thread elsewhere.  I've just tried to continue with this challenge after taking a break of a week or so.  I have two saved games, one I use for travel and the other one.  Neither one would open.  Also at the main menu, the household Sims don't show up.  When I went to the Documents to check on whether I had somehow gotten a bad file, I was surprised to find 4 files under each name instead of the main file and the backup file that I had expected.  The files for the main game are (in the order they appear) ConsignmentChallenge.sims3, ConsignmentChallenge.sims3(612).backup, ConsignmentChallenge.sims3.backup, and ConsignmentChallenge(611).sims3.  The travel game files are ConsignmentTravel.sims3, ConsignmentTravel.sims3(614).backup, ConsignmentTravel.sims3.backup, and ConsignmentTravel(613).sims3.

None of my other saved games look like this and I don't know what to make of it.  I've never seen game files with numbers like that.  Does anyone know why this would have happened?  Is there anything I can do to salvage my game?

I really wanted to do every single challenge this year but I just finished my 3rd try at this one.  I have an odd glitch with the consignment shop.  My sims start to interact with the cashier and then the interaction is cancelled and the sim is ported to another area of the store.  I've tried this with both game made stores and one of my own.  I've tried two sets of sims, and three different towns... moving lots you name it but I still get the glitch.   :-\

No, you're not out. Try replacing the store. I believe others have tried replacing the register with success. Whatever cheats are necessary to get your problem fixed, you have my permission. If you still strike out, then you can restart with a fresh file. Good luck.

I had fun doing this but unfortunately I messed up on the start of the last week and accidently left an item from the previous week on sale, but I finished that final week for my own amusement anyway. My score wasn't particularly noteworthy in any case. Ambitions is very new to me so this was a great learning experience and I may one day try again just for fun and see if I can do better with what I learnt this time.

No, you're not out. Try replacing the store. I believe others have tried replacing the register with success. Whatever cheats are necessary to get your problem fixed, you have my permission. If you still strike out, then you can restart with a fresh file. Good luck.

I think I might be in the same boat :( I'm on my last ditch effort to get it to work in this file. If it doesn't work, does 'cheating' include saving the family to bin and starting with them again in a fresh town? Will I lose any completed challenges that way? Or is it better to start over? I'd really hate to have to start over, as I just got past the fiddly bit :( I have an inkling that I read somewhere it will affect the value of items that appreciate because it goes on the game days...

EDIT: The final combination of resetsim, replacing the consignment store, a game restart, and changing my selling sim finally worked.

Sadly life has gotten in the way of this one, it's very unlikely that I'll be able to finish. I may carry on anyway, because I think I could get close to 2,000,000, but not before the challenge closes.
Revision, exams, and work commitments got in the way again!
Well done to all who have posted scores, I'm looking forward to seeing how you did it!

Despite every last effort to get my consignment store working again, it broke for good this time. I think I have some ideas as to why, but I just wanted to make sure that I have your blessings to start over Metro? I don't know if I'll make it in time, but I can only hope.

I'm definitely out.  The consignment store just broke again on my second attempt.  I've tried everything to fix it.  Definitely not going to start over (again) when there is so little time left!  I wish I could have finished, but I enjoyed giving it a try anyway.

I'm not sure if I'll get an answer in time, but fingers crossed - what measures may I take to work around the 'continual processing on moving screen' bug? The only solutions I've had work in the past is to temporarily switch households. May I do that? Splitting the household from edit town does not work. The 'split' sim never appears on the households list on the side, and the household stays the same.  Or, if you would allow it, may I temporarily have 5 sims in my household? The 5th sim is in no direct way contributing to the consignment items.

EDIT: Nevermind - I found an actual fix for the problem. It's not always ideal, but it this case it didn't matter. My sim needed to sell certain posessions.

Totally. Consignment glitches were new for me, sadly. Some things that I can confirm contributed towards that were:

Travelling while having items consigned
Consigning items from the family inventory
and one more, but I can't say for strategy reasons.

I basically had the game on fast forward and just picked the fasted things to scoop into inventory while the game was still running to sell in the time I had left.

It's ok. There's always next year now :D Plus, now that's done with I can take some time off sims (not completely, just not so many hours a day!) and get some other things done at home that I've been wanting to get done but wasn't able until I had the ok from the Dr. this Wednesday just been.

Post by: drift9999 on August 13, 2012, 10:22:28 AM
I'm happy to have won this one, seeing as the Consignment Store is one of the frequent hangouts for my Sims! Heh, I thought my strategy was fairly optimal already, but I missed something (LenaLJ's and Nutella's 3rd highest sub-scores are 600k-ish but mine's only 500k-ish; or maybe I didn't figure something correctly about one of the skills I threw out). Anyway, I'll basically split my analysis of this challenge into three parts:
The items I sold were, in sequence: Week 9 - Photographs (485,297), Week 10 - Paintings (837,218), Week 11 - Fish (506,424), Week 12 - Sculptures (1,411,571).

My four starting Sims were:
Everyone had Ambitious and Swimming in Cash as their LTW, as this facilitates very quick unlocking of rewards. Russell and Samuel are basically sculptors, Christopher is the angler and consignment store liaison officer, and Jonas is a painter. Everyone has Photographer's Eye and Chris has Kleptomaniac because of the photography strategy (as you'll see later). Jonas has Adventurous so that he can earn a visa in Egypt as quickly as possible (explained later as well). Loves the Outdoors on Russell and Samuel was actually cause I didn't think I'd need any other traits.

At the start of the game, I immediately killed Jonas (painting is easier to learn than sculpting) and had Christopher hold off starting fishing to ensure a quick Oh My Ghost! opportunity. I moved in Agnes for her car, then got a Motive Mobile. Once I had the opportunity, I moved Agnes out, resurrected Jonas, and promptly killed off Russell and Samuel and resurrected them.

(1) Selecting Item Types

I did some testing on the various item types in the game and made up a list, from highest to lowest valued per item:
I'm not sure if I fully optimised this though, especially for nectar-making or photography.

(2) Maximising Item Values

Photography
There are three critical shots we are aiming for, which are A Pyramid (value 9,452), Abu Simbel (value 7,903) and A Serious Ghost Problem (value 7,114). These values were calculated for a level 10 photographer who has the Photographer's Eye trait, Architectural Eye (the Skill Challenge), Photog taking Classic Vignette Panoramas with the Hikon camera for the first time for each subject.

Each of the four starting Sims can shoot each of these three photos once each, for 12. To fill out the remaining 16 photos, you need to find a way to, as quickly as possible, move in a Sim, raise his skills to 10, ensure he has completed the relevant challenges and has the Photographer's Eye trait. Then he can shoot ONE A Serious Ghost Problem shot for 7,114. Christopher went on a grave-robbing extravaganza for this.

Then you kill him (Tree of Prosperity + pool works wonders). Repeat 16 times. Note that your family size must not become higher than 4 at any point. By around the middle of week 7, I didn't need Jonas', Russell's or Samuel's services so much so I moved them out, and raised groups of adopted children three at a time to get the photos. With a LTW of Swimming in Cash, Mid-Life Crisis to get the photographer's eye trait is easily obtained. (I would buy the fighter jet statue before their YA birthday and sell it immediately after to knock out everyone's LTW).

It seems that Panoramas don't appreciate except for death of the photographer, but Large Portraits do - not sure if what I did, just going with panoramas, was the right strategy for this part. In any case, since my panoramas weren't going to appreciate, I sold them off in week 9. I could probably have picked up at least another few thousand here as I didn't bother to kill and resurrect Christopher (the difference would have been 930 x 3 x 2.35 = 6556).

Painting
There's a little trick (http://www.carls-sims-3-guide.com/forum/index.php/topic,6234.msg161062.html#msg161062) to this that I learnt from ClayMask during last year's Finale. Of course, make sure your painter is level 10 and has completed the Painting Skill Challenges; the Extra Creative LTW and/or Perfectionist trait isn't compulsory but would be helpful (I gave Jonas both). The painter should learn ONLY Painting, to maximise the possibility of getting the [Fresco Fest] opportunity, which boosts the value of all paintings.

That's good, but you'll also want to get [Local Artists' Gallery] after that one. This boosts the value of your next painting. However, if you start many, many paintings and then finish them, the bonus will apply to all. I plopped down 56 easels on the lot and had Jonas start 56 portraits (portraits are worth more) and then finish them.

Jonas' best painting was just over 15,000 by the time it came to sell it on Week 10, Day 1. Since large paintings painted by a level 10 painter appreciate at a flat rate of 20/day, the most expensive should be sold first. I wasn't able to sell everything, actually - according to my records there were 8 days where I only sold 3/4 items.

Sometime in week 9, after I was done with the Photography child-raising shenanigans I had everyone move back in to take their vacations and finish off their 3 photos. I had Jonas go first as by this time, all the paintings had been painted. To maximise the number of vacation days, I gave everyone Prepared Traveller and gave Jonas Opportunistic as well. The point of this is to get a level 3 Visa in Egypt as quickly as possible, so that you can buy a vacation home and set out the paintings and sculptures to appreciate. I also had Russell, Christopher and Samuel continue their work with a sculpting station and a self-stocked deathfish pond. Jonas had the level three visa by Day 4 of 6, and after that everyone went for 6 days.

Fishing
I'm not sure there's any trick to this. Cheese > Alley Catfish > Angelfish > Deathfish is basically what you'll want to do after you get the Amateur Icthyologist skill challenge done. Christopher fished all day, all night (taking motive mobile breaks where necessary). The value of your deathfish will go up over time; my best were around 8,500 by the end.

Christopher skilled up in gardening as well so that he could grow the Omni Plant (before the photo business, he had only Gardening and Fishing). The opportunity requirements can be cheated by making one of the guys who had more free time (I usually used Jonas) become a singer, and another one go to his show and throw him perfect produce.

Sculpting
I devoted two Sims to sculpting, as masterpieces are quite rare. Russell and Samuel had Savvy Sculptor (obviously) and I got the Artisan Crafter lifetime happiness reward when I could.

Basically, you'll want to pick a sculpture type and specialise in it; I just used whatever their very first clay sculpture was. Russell's was one of the display pedestals and Samuel's was A Show of Force. Complete the challenges - except for metal and topiary, just use that same type, and then after that go into stone. You can get an approximate idea of the value of a sculpture a Sim is sculpting by going MOO and trying to pick up the sculpting station in buy mode.

Sculptures made by a dead (or ghostly) scupltor appreciate by 2,500 at first, and also 4% of the base value per day - I used a spreadsheet to calculate what the value of a given sculpture would be come Week 12, Day 1 and kept the high-valued ones.

By the time Week 12 rolled around, Russell's best sculpture was worth just over 25,000.

(3) Maximising Profit at the Consignment Store

Have one liaison officer with the store who has the Born Salesman trait - I used Christopher. Early in the challenge, before the store was restricted, I bought several hundred apples, lettuces and small produce items from the supermarket and resold them at the consignment store, to clear the skill challenges. You'll also want to pick up Suave Seller when you can as that boosts profits by 25%, I think.

When selling the items, in the early weeks where things appreciate at a flat rate or not at all, I sold the most valuable items first. Week 12 was trickier as the items appreciate by variable amounts. I aimed to sell the highest-valued ones on Day 5, to protect against the risk of an item not being sold. In total, I sold 4/4 items 20 days and 3/4 on 8 days.

Quite lucky not to have had too many bugs on this one, especially not during the 'critical' last four weeks of game-time. Sometimes, clearing all items from the consigned list and returning to the main menu before going back to the game seems to have helped for me; this doesn't work all the time though.

Brief summary: Week 9 photos, week 10 paintings, week 11 fish, week 12 sculptures. Kill Sims and resurrect them to take advantage of faster appreciation rates for dead craftsmen. Get vacation home for appreciation during vacations. Take advantage of the first shot bonus in photography. [Fresco Fest] + [Local Artists' Gallery] is a winning combination for paintings. Use Deathfish and an Omni Plant for fishing. Have more than one Sculptor as top-quality work is rare.

Great tips, drift. Yeah, that first shot bonus for photos is huge. I found that out myself. In my own tests I also decided to drop trying for Life Fruit/Pomegranate nectar -- it just took too long to make before it became as valuable as the other types of items, so I made a last minute decision for the real deal and went with fishing as well. Great job as always!  :D

Good tip on the paintings - I didnt' notice that paintings had a flat appreciation rate. It's been a while since I looked into it. I did do the same thing with the opportunities though. I used that same strategy in my first (suspended) dynasty.
With the sculptures I went a slightly different approach - get the skill challenges and then make a clay sculpture, move it in MOO and scrap it if it wasn't an urn of franco. After only a short time, my sims had an urn of franco, which they sculpted in stone continuously until my consignment store died half way through.

**Consignment Store issues**
Don't travel while you have things consigned
Don't leave things consigned when you kill off your sims
Leave sculptures til last, because one of the major consignment bugs is caused by consigning items from the inventory.

**Moving sims out**
I had the eternal processing glitch, but selling vacation homes and all relics but my eyes of horus and storage chest helped a lot. I even sold all home-world properties, just to be sure. It fixed the problem.

I made the same initial mistake as Metro, going after nectar Having lots with lifefruit on really helped at the start (BB) but ultimately it meant one less sim taking one of the most valuable photos, and the nectar didn't appreciate as much as I thought it would.

My starting strategy was quite similar - invite a rich sim over, then steal their car that they parked on my lot. I'm sure this is a recent thing, because I don't think I've ever seen other sims park on my lot before. It was indeed handy. That fulfilled lifetime wishes quickly. Next, get all sims skilled up in photography as quickly as possible. I had big issues with the architect's eye challenge not completing properly. That was another new glitch for me. Anyway, I had all sims back from holiday on day 1, then killed off the first sim, made best friends with and moved in a skill-less sim, then killed off the rest. Resurrected them the next day and began work. The eyes of horus came in VERY handy when working with ghosts. Floating is much too slow for my liking. The eye of horus speeds that up BIG time.

On a funny note - there is ONE time that ghosts actually run (they have no option to run places anymore). When they are on fire! (metal sculptures).

For photography I went for panorama photos, and also gave all my sims 'loves the outdoors' trait, as it gives a small bonus to photo value of photos taken outdoors (ie, those landmarks). I figured it could be the difference by the end of the challenge if my consignment store didn't break. When I did snap 'a serious ghost problem' I suspect my game glitched that too, because it wasn't worth nearly that amount that drift had, though I suspected that it should have been, and was all set for the same strategy of moving sims in and out to take that one photo. Because of that, I instead sent 1 sim to Al Simhara and got those 3 photos, and 2 sims to Shang Simla. I calculated that 2 shots and 15 subsequent shots of the Dragon Cave were worth more in total than More shots of the Pyramid/Sphynx/Abu Simbel. First shot of the day shots of the Dragon Cave were worth over §5k!

On the whole I really enjoyed the learning experiences in this challenge, and if anyone is interested, I have nearly finished my article on Sculpture Information.

I wasnt' able to finish due to my AC going out. Playing a computer game when the house is 90 degrees is not fun. I've been in a hotel for the last week and the AC is fixed tomorrow. Bad timing.  :'(

I was follwing almost the identical strategy that drift was, with three minor changes:
- I had the fisher/consignment guru transmute a cursed sarcophagus and had the fisher and and both sculptors mummify. No sleeping or peeing is a great time saver, especially with the slowness of the ghosts.
- I didn't steal graves for the extra ghosts, I just waited until there were deaths in town and managed the dead at the mausoleum.
- I had my level 3 visa sim (same as fisher/consigment) buy a certificate of partnership with Egypt and this was shared among all the Sims on vacation. This gave 9 more days of travel time total - enough to raise the sculpure value by 36% more (28 total days after the vacation house was bought) and also the paintings had the extra $20 a day for those extra days. Small but helpful boost in value. I found that many simmers don't know the certificates can be shared and passed around.

Great scores everyone. I may end up finishing this one once I get home, but I think I'll focus on the new ones instead and bury my sorrows in my dynasty.

Awesome! I didn't know about the partnership certificate being passed around either. Does this mean that sims with no visa level can have as many days travel as a level 3 visa? I can't wait to try this out! I just had my sims travel together for the cumulative benefit of Prepared Traveller LTR.

Sorry, Chuckles, it's only 3 days extra. If a sim has prepared traveller and the partnership, he or she can travel for 9 days by him or herself.

For my last run at an Immortal Dynasty, I've had 60 day vacactions with one level 3 visa, 8 prepared traveller LTRs and 8 partnerships.

Pam,this year we are allowed to use any means available to a player to complete or play the challanges, this means that things like the motive mobile, moodlet manager and yes killing Sims is allowed.
I am pretty sure that killing Sims is not allowed in either of the two dynasties(can you imagine how easy an immortal dynasty would be if we could get rid of spares and spouses if needed)

@Pam, yes to echo what ratchie said, nearly anything goes in the Tournament outside of cheating. There are a few bans here and there in the General Rules, but it's mainly for simplicity sake to cut down on the "Metro, can I do this?" questions. The Dynasties are different animals.

Thanks. ;) Is there any way to get Pomegranates outside of travelling to Egypt / France? I decided not to do Nectar Making in part because of this - I needed those vacations to let the paintings and sculptures appreciate.

It's a shame the consignment store bugged out on you.

Hmm, good point on mummification. Once I had the points I did get Steel Bladder and Hardly Hungry (of course after the motive mobile), but yep, that's a good way round it.

I didn't know that the Participation Certificates could be shared too (I thought, wrongly, that they would be worthless as by the time a Sim earned it, his vacation would be used up). That would have been a nice boost; 9 more appreciation days would be a total value increase of 5,040 for 28 paintings and around 18k for sculptures (well, the ones I did), which would have meant a score increase of around 50,000.

When you put it that way, it makes it worth skipping China for the added value to sculptures and paintings. The sculpting information (http://www.carls-sims-3-guide.com/forum/index.php/topic,11883.msg231789.html#msg231789) article is now complete. I may later add detailed information for each sculpture (from the scultping_data resource), but that will involve significantly more play-testing to work out which sculpture is what. They are not labelled the same in-game as in the code. Thankfully the level that ceratin sculptures are available helps a bit.

Chuckles thank you so much for writing that sculpting article. Awesome info.

The information for each individual sculpture (http://www.carls-sims-3-guide.com/forum/index.php/topic,11922.0.html) is now available. Today I learnt about name and description GUIDs; where to find the STBL files for base game and EP objects, and how to use those to identify the 'code' names for each sculpture (much easier than how I started: with 8 sims sculpting and scrapping until each sculpture for that level was discovered).

Oh No! :( It says on the main challenges menu that this event finishes on the 22nd, and I've been working for ages on it. Sigh! Never mind... I don't suppose I can submit a score now that all the strategies are up? Quite confused how everybody else got the 12th though!

Well, poop. :( Sorry about that. It is incorrect on the Guide — a simple typo from Carl I guess. I do not do any Guide stuff. The date was correct (12th) on the Forum Tournament Calendar as well as what was listed on p. 1 of the challenge thread. Sorry again.

Thanks. ;) Is there any way to get Pomegranates outside of travelling to Egypt / France? I decided not to do Nectar Making in part because of this - I needed those vacations to let the paintings and sculptures appreciate.

Yes, you can get the vegetable cart from the Stone's Throw Greenhouse.  It sells a rotating limited selection of whatever harvestables are available in your game and the quality rating on them is Excellent.  You will probably pay more than they're worth and get the ripped off moodlet, but a green thumb or gatherer should be able to get to perfect produce in one shot using fruit/veggies/herbs/coffee purchased from the stand.
