Morning sickness was terrible. You know who ever named it morning sickness should have lost their job. Because it was more of a all around the clock sickness, or a I just ate and want to keep my food down kind of sickness. I was never this sick with Raelyn, maybe here and there but with this baby it was almost constant. Johnathan was a sport though with it because every time I got sick in the middle of the night he was up with me.
"This baby just doesn't like me eating anything." I groaned.
I walked over to the couch and curled up in John's arms. He wrapped his arms around me as I laid my head on his chest.
"I wonder how Raelyn's first day of school is going." John wondered.
"Hopefully good, she was so excited about it this morning."
It was so cute, she had her little backpack all packed with her notebooks and pencils. She even had extra pencils in case any of the other kids needed them. She had her own outfit laid out from the night before and she was ready to go. I was a mess saying goodbye to her, but I didn't know if that was me or the pregnancy hormones. I came back home and decided to indulge in my favorite pregnancy food, pancakes!
I could not get enough of pancakes, two squares of butter on top, and just a little maple syrup evenly poured on top. Just like that, and if anyone made it slightly different it would send me off on a breakdown. John made them wrong once and he spent the next hour trying to get me to stop crying. Pregnancy was great.
"Sumo, stop digging at the trash can!" I scolded.
He whined and walked into the living room.
"We're home!" John announced.
He went to pick Raelyn from school.
"How was it?!" I asked.
"It was okay." She shrugged.
"Just okay?"
"Yeah, I'm going to go sleep."
I watched as she walked upstairs to her room.
"What was that about? She was so excited this morning." I told him.
"I don't know, it's the first day of school. I'm sure it was fine." He said.
"No, there's something else."
I could see it in her face, and I know that John thought that everything was fine but I just new something was up. I would let her come to me though unless things got worse and then I would step in.
...
"Honey?" John asked.
I opened my eyes and lifted my glasses.
"Yes?" I asked.
"Are you in Rae's pool?" He giggled.
I looked around.
"No?"
I was in fact, in her pool laying down.
"Why are you in there?"
"It's so hot outside, I need to cool down."
"You should take a bath then, inside."
"It's too cold inside."
"It's too hot outside, but too cold inside?"
"Yes, and in this pool is perfect."
He shook his head and hid a giggle.
"Okay love, I will start dinner."
"Thank you."
I put my head back down and took a deep breath. It was so relaxing laying in the pool and just listening to the sounds of nature.
"Mama!" Raelyn asked running outside.
"Yes sweetheart?" I said.
"Can I make some fall decorations?!"
"Sure! Go a head!"
"Thank you!"
The third trimester came quickly and I was starting to get nervous.
"You get nervous all the time when it's this close." John smiled.
"Can we handle two?" I asked.
"Of course we can!"
I felt like I was a walking time bomb, I could go into labor at any moment and that was a scary to think about that. I was a good mother, I knew that, and of course Johnathan was a wonderful father to Raelyn. I don't know I was just having last minute cold feet and I knew that John was right and that this was normal.
I walked into Raelyn's bedroom that night and sat on the edge of her bed.
"Baby girl." I whispered.
I gently ran my hand up and down her arm as she slept.
"I know there is something wrong at school, and I have a feeling I know what it is about. I'm here baby girl, please know that, I'm right here."
How did I help her? I took a deep breath and stood up and kissed her on the cheek. I walked to the door and shut the lights back off before walking out into the hall way.
"AH!" I gasped.
I held on to the railing of the stairs and took a deep breath. I waited for a few moments until the pain went away and I was able to walk again. I walked downstairs slowly to where John was in the living room on the couch. He was watching one of his shows, I tried to walk over and sit down but another pain came again. I winced and made a groan of pain as I bent over and leaned against the table.
"Babe?!" John gasped.
He quickly got off the couch and was at my side in a second. I took deep breaths and breathed through the pain until it subsided.
"I think this may be it." I whispered.
"Okay, um, has your water broken?" He asked.
I shook my head.
"Okay, do you want to go to the hospital again? Or stay at home?"
"Home. I want to stay here."
So we waited around the house and toughened the contractions out. Before we knew it the sun had came up and Raelyn went to school, thankfully she also had a Scouts meeting after so hopefully she wouldn't be here until the baby was born. I was taking a nap on the couch in between contractions, John was sitting on the chair so that I could have more room to stretch out.
"Oh god!" I gasped opening my eyes.
"What?!"
"My water just broke."
I looked at him as he rushed to help me sit up.
"Well, ready or not here comes our baby!"
"I want to name her Addison." I whispered.
"Addi, for short." John smiled.
"Welcome to the world, Addison."
Another girl! Was secretly hoping for a boy, but there's still time for that!
