[BUG] Career Promotion Bug?

Hey guys,

I have encountered an issue. If a Sim in my household goes to work and is eligible for a promotion, they will not get the promotion if I'm controlling a Sim, from the same household, away from their home at the time, when the working Sim returns. This is pretty frustrating, because it means that the working Sim remains stuck at a certain tier in their job. Is this a known bug?

This as been like this for a very long time. I remember it happening back in 2014 just after release to be honest. I can not find a bug report on this. I guess it is just something that you need to be mindful of. When I am playing a challenge etc I always make sure I am actively on the home lot around the time work/school finishes for this very reason. Far from ideal and not sure there is a work around.

It seems that sometimes these random bugs crop up again and often only in one of your save files while all your other saves work just fine around promotions etc.

All the usual things apply, deleting the localthumbcache.package file from your The Sims 4 folder, clearing out the sims personal inventories, checking CC/mods are all updated and are not reported to be causing issues, testing without any cc/mods. etc - Make sure the game is up to date.

Well, all the usual things have already been applied, since I always do that before posting an issue
I guess it's just a gameplay "feature" then - 'be around, or be punished'...

Ooh, yay! I think they have fixed this now. One of my Sims just got a promotion even though I was away from home with another

Probably not fixed, sorry to rain on your parade, as it will work as it should but then, out of the blue the promotion will fail if the home lot is not actively loaded.

Yes but more inportantly on the home lot when the sim returns from work as that is when promotions are given.

Oh dear, I'd thought it was fixed because my sims had several promotions lately while the rest of the family was at the park.
I'll need to be more careful about staying home then. *heaves a heavy sigh

@Playalot But that doesn't make any sense So instead of failing every time, it only fails sometimes now? I don't even remember if I was at home when the Sim in question left. I only noticed the promotions came despite me being away in a different neighborhood

It's always failed sometimes. Which is what I was trying to say in my initial post. I have some sim families where this never happens but other in the same file that this happens to sometimes. It's been like this for as long as I can remember. I know of other people who have never had this bug ever in any of their save files.

Well, TS4 is a collection of bugs with a game inside. Maybe that's why?

Their is a game inside? I thought it was just a huge collection of bugs. Shows what I know. LOL.
